: Amsoil Dual Remote Bypass Oil Filter Pics
terel 01-18-2005, 01:57 PM For anyone interested in Amsoil's dual remote bypass oil filtration system, I just installed mine over the weekend. Very easy to install. No leaks, and two big-a$$ oil filters, one of which screens down to 2 microns, I believe.
I also bought the tap for taking oil samples for analysis on occasion. I drilled two small holes in the valve handle and used safety wire to keep it shut.
Let me know if anyone has any questions. I found a safe place to mount (i.e. low risk of being struck by road debris, etc.), fabricated a bracket to mount to the frame, and had the hoses steel braided (probably overkill, but the whole truck is, isn't it?). So here are some pics....
LBZ DMAX 01-18-2005, 04:33 PM Nice setup!):h I was looking to do the same thing, but I two questions. Would this work on the LLY(not sure what engine you have)? And where did you order the kit from? Thanks!
neo5556 01-18-2005, 04:54 PM was looking to get one also but is there a shorter fillters available since from your pics they stick out below the transfer case cross bar....and already I dinged my few times...thanks for the input
terel 01-18-2005, 05:06 PM I would think it would work fine on the LLY--the only part that would need to be "compatible" would be the threading on the oil filter post sticking off your block--I doubt GM "improved" upon the LB7 on this spec. So, you should be fine. You might double-check with your Amsoil rep, but I would be shocked if there was a difference.
I ordered my kit from a local Amsoil rep named Larry Gray. He's based in San Jose, CA, but he ships. His phone number is: 408-396-9959.
Lastly, yes, there are 3 filter lengths available--mine are the medium. Because they do stick down a bit far, next time I will get the smaller ones. They filter just as well as the larger ones, they just need to be replaced more often.

LBZ DMAX 01-18-2005, 05:08 PM If you don't mind me asking, price?
LBZ DMAX 01-19-2005, 02:07 AM Also, did you notice any change in your oil psi on the dash?
Thanks!
terel 01-19-2005, 03:22 AM Price was about $180.
I did notice a drop in pressure when I changed from dino to synthetic oil. I did not notice a change when I added the Amsoil bypass filter kit.

Bertram65 01-19-2005, 09:02 AM Looks nice. Does the system have the same flow rating as the factory filter? or is there some type of bypass setup built into it for the bypass filter? Most of the setups like that I have seen tap off a high presure oil supply and then the return is put back in through a oil cap with a fitting or the pan.
Idle_Chatter 01-21-2005, 01:36 PM Looks nice. Does the system have the same flow rating as the factory filter? or is there some type of bypass setup built into it for the bypass filter? Most of the setups like that I have seen tap off a high presure oil supply and then the return is put back in through a oil cap with a fitting or the pan.The dual remote has full flow through the full flow cartridge and an orificed bypass flow through the bypass cartridge. I like it because I have both cartridges mounted vertically for easy access and replacement including prefilling with clean oil. The separate bypass kits have the cartridges mounted in two different locations, the OEM is still tilted nearly horizontal and the bypass may or may not be vertical, depending on the mounting location.
LanduytG 01-21-2005, 06:11 PM If you get the BMK-17 kit which is for the Duramax comes with the BE-100 and SDF-26 filters as shown. For a short filter setup you would want the SDF-15 and BE-90. The kit will work on any Duramax. The only thing in the pictures that does not come with the kit are the 90* fittings he has on the filter head, those are and additional $25. Another alteritive is to get my bracket ($25) and bolt it to the frame, then the filter head will not need the 90's. You will also only have about 15" of hose because you can get it a lot closer to the factory filter. You might experience noise with it mounted on the floor pan which some have, with it on the frame you won't get any noise.

Frank Blum 01-23-2005, 08:51 PM Greg, what is the valve for? Later! Frank
LanduytG 01-23-2005, 09:06 PM For getting your oil sample. IMHO it could be a little better quality valve.

jtr3096 01-24-2005, 01:57 AM i installed an amsoil bypass filter kit. i used the be-110 filter. i mounted mine horizontally on the R/S of the frame just ahead of the rear tire next to the exhaust. i had not noticed any excess heat from the exhaust. i used the oil ports above the spin on filter for my oil supply and welded a fitting into the drain plug for oil return. i used a JIC fitting so when i change my oil, i can loosen the fitting and drain the oil. i used amsoil kit bmk-100 ( i think) this kit holds one filter either the be-90, be-100, or the be-110. i was able to get 10k miles out of regular mineral based oil. i changed to amsoils synthetic sd5W-30. i am going to take an oil sample in the next week to see how far i can go on my oil. i currently have approximately 10k on the oil now. it can get pretty expensive changing 13 qts of oil every 5k like GM wants you to.
