Is there anyway to make my turbo louder?? I love the whistle of one. I had an 01 Ford Powerstroke and you could install the "wicked wheel" in it and it would really sing! I love my truck, would never go back to Ford but wondering if there is something out there for me? The "wicked wheel" was only like $70, too. PLus installation, of course?

I am not aware of a "wicked wheel" for our turbos. If you put in an AFE stage II kit or similiar, that will make it louder. You can also disconnect the silencer. After market exhaust I think makes it louder, but I can not remember since it been too long since I've had my Banks exhaust.

Plastic thingy on the top with 6.6 embossed on it.

The only purpose it has is to silence the turbo whine.

Are you saying that if I take off the "6.6L" plastic cover that my turbo will have a louder whistle?

I don't see how that plastic thing would make a difference, but I will try anything?

It might be a little louder, but if you go with a different air intake, say AFE Stage II kit, people have noticed the turbo quite a bit more. Then if you go with the exhaust, the turbo spools quicker and you should have plenty of whistling. It more than likely won't be like the wicked wheel, but you can hear it better.
I would say, start with the intake and work from there to get what you want, or close to it.

I'm leaning toward the AFE also. Quite a few people here like it.

I've changed my K&N intake for a Volant system. The Volant actually has a louder turbo whistle, which is strange because they come with a partially enclosed box. I did pull the tinfoil off the side of the fender, though.
