Will the 89 up gear reduction starter fit on my 82 6.2?
Is this a better choice than the original older style starter?

yes it will fit but i don't know if it is any beter or not ??

Yes it will fit. get the right brace from GM for it. the small starters take a different one.
I have put them on both my trucks, and normally switch over customers trucks tot hat style also. They are far better at cranking the engine in cool areas.
