I have a 2005 crew cab SLT with the center console that goes all the way to the dash. I am looking for a place to mount a small inverter, about 200 watt. I was thinking that there has to be alot of space under there but I cant figure out how to take it apart without messing up the plastic. I am not concerned about the lack of fresh air for cooling as this will get very limmited use powering a laptop that only requires 90 watt. Anyone got any pics of the console taken apart?

Pull up on the cup-holder tray and it will pop right out. Lots of room there.

I just erased all the center console pics off my site yesterday.....its real easy to gain access to an area that might help u mount your inverter......

Grab the front part of the cup holder so u can get a good grip. Pull back and up just a little and the whole cup holder section will come out....snaps right back in as well...

Better and easier yet, Zantrax (sp) makes a 175 watt inverter that plugs into the auxillary DC plugs in that console. They are available at Staples, Wal-mart, etc. and I think they are about $35. My wife uses the computer while we are on the road and it works great. Just plugs in and out and then she takes it into the camper and uses a dc plug I put in for her so she can use it when we don't have the generator running.

tons of room under the console. a couple of thing to look at is also the area under the dash along the floor by the pasenger side as well, they tuck nicely up there and are accessible from the passenger side to plug things in and not clutter the drivers area.

Cool, thanks for all of the replies. I will try to pull it out tonight.

Well I pulled the cup holder and it was not at all what I was expecting. Not alot of room at all. Theres a metal bar and some plastic frame stuff in there. I was expecting open space all the way to the dash. I would have a hard time stashing a few cd's in there. Is it just me or am I missing something. I will try to snap a few pics tomorrow.

Under the cup holder, there is not much room. I tried to take my center console apart, but I figured out what I needed to take out for my project. Good luck with it and let us know how it goes!!):h

I mounted my Sirius reciever under the cup holder. Enough room for that...
