I've found a rim I like but now trying to decide between 18's or 20's. When you go up to a 20" wheel it seems like the max load a tire with that wheel size is 3195 lbs. That's about 300 lbs. less than what's on the truck now. Using the truck to pull a 14k dump tailer or towing a skid steer is a tire with a 3195 rating safe or should I opt. for more side wall and go with the 18's.

It all depends on your tongue weight - only you know that.

Pull my bobcat around with 20's all the time on 305/55/20 toyos with no problem. Truck ride a little rough though. I was gonna switch to 18's but people always comment on how good the wheels look so I have left it.

my nitto terra grapplers are rated at 3750lbs each tire, but i was limited to my rim capacities which was 3200lbs each. i would always have a tire that can handle more weight than the rim. my .02

I ran these on my HD. My opinion is that less sidewall is always better, that was my main reason for going with a 20" wheel. I don't know what size tire you are planning on running, but this tire had the highest weight rating when I was in the market. It performed well and they lasted a long time. I had about 35-40K miles on them prior to taking them off. I still have them in the back of my shop and they still have 30-40% tread left.
