Just ordered a Predator, banks exhaust and an AFE stage 2 with progaurd for my dads 2005 LLY CC 4x4 with the allison. The chip is rated at 100 RWHP on its highest setting. What can we expect out of this setup at the rear wheels? We were hesitant to eliminate the cat b/c of all the warranty issues. Anybody running anything similar? Are you happy..sad? Anybody dynoed this setup? Quarter mile or 0 - 60 times. Sorry for all the questions but this stuff cant get here fast enough I'm excited :ro)

David

Edit : This means I might get a chance to get his 02 CHEAP ):h

you will probably be very happy with that set up, havent dynoed yet but seet of the pants is great. I had the AFE stage 2 but have dumped it for the stock set up - i think it helps with spool up a bit, lowers egt, and will increase the throttle response but it just seemed to change my timing too much for my taste as well. I think the biggest thing is a good exhaust, and good chip - keep in mind that you will have to go easy on the tranny if you dont have a built tranny, might want to keep at 85 at the highest so you dont waste the tranny. HAVE FUN !

Dag - you have to keep in mind that unless the tranny is built you might not see as much gain as with a built tranny. I agree that the numbers it was putting out was a bit low IMO, but i believe Kennedy dynoed the predator as well and had different numbers. Do a search to find JK's info and remember about the tranny deal as the built tranny is able to get the power to the ground

Save your money for the a trasnny upgrade. You are going to need it. From what it sounds like you are looking for, you will limp the tranny before you can enjoy all you are trying to do to the truck. If you limp your tranny, don't let it get you down about the truck. Your truck has potential to knock the doors off of several vehicles on the drag strip, but if you leave that stock tranny in, you might be limping across the finish line.
You wouldn't want to be embarrassed by trying to drag someone at a light only to get stuck limping.

So whats a reasonably priced tranny mod that I can do to hold the 85 or 100 hp setting. The most this truck will see the occasional full throttle runs and light towing. No more than 3500 to 4000 lbs. ie a bumper pull two horse with two horses. More than likely alot of extended high speed driving : 85 -90 mph.

ATS has a co-pilot upgrade kit that costs less than a grand. They state that it will upgrade your tranny, good, up to 400HP.

Then there next level is good for over 600HP and then you can buy a transmission to replace yours as well.

here is the link to them.

dont forget with those numbers thats winter fuel is a semi heated garage( it was warmer inside than out) thats the only mod i got. i expect more than that in the sumer after i get my exhaust. them numbers arnt that bad i mean you paid 400 bucks and get those kind of numbers. i did expect more but i wasnt disapointed. heck gassers cant even dream of that.

my 1/4 mile time was 14.41. that was from the dyno so i dont know how accurate it was. that right off of idle.

that was my point. with summer fuel it would probly be a differnt story. but for the most part its right on the money.

also the truck either wasnt warmed up all the way or it was to hot.

Very interesting. So what do you think the power numbers would be up with the intake and exhaust? And then later the tranny upgrade...

i think with an exhaust and summer fuel over 350. in the spring i will re dyno. i will be hopeing for 360. dont touch the intake of the lly. its possable to loose power than gain with a aftermarket intake. just keep the stock one. also my egr was unpluged.

With exhaust and a built tranny the predator laid down 410ish hp according to one vendor I talked to.

Without dyno'g, going by just 1/4 mi MPH numbers, I would estimate the Predator should push about 375RWHP with the exhaust and run about 14 flat at sea level.

If your LLY is "fresh" that will account for lower numbers also.

I have the Predator at 363HP and JUST shy of 700TQ (peak at 733 if you count that like most everyone else does) with stock exhaust on a relatively fresh engine.

I had an LB7 on the rollers with Sunday with REAL winter fuel (likely 85% winterized #2 and 15% #1 due to sub zero temps as of late) that put down excellent numbers so either his FPPF cocktail (my blend) brought it back up or there may not be as much difference as one would think...

Yamahgrizzly, your HP numbers are about right but the torque numbers are about 50lb. too high.
What dyno did you use?
It may need recalibration.
244hp 444tq is about average stock.
352hp 652tq with 100 hp tune is about average.

JK - are you numbers of 363hp for the predator on the LLY with stock tranny ? I havent had mine on the rollers yet but am running the predator and my stock baseline with SC L3 is 261 hp so im just trying to figure out what it might be putting out. Sounds like you got about 118hp out of the tune ?

I got some really odd dyno numbers for the 100 Predator 15min ago.

Just an exhaust and a tune = 385rwhp average through 3 pulls on a 1.0 correction on a dynojet.

I do not really believe it, but who knows?

it was a mustang dyno.
i thought my tq numbers where 50 to low. i only gained under 200 lb ft i thought the pred was a 250 tq?
all all the tunes. it seemed like they where 50 to low excpet stock. i didnt kow where that would be. but the lly got the 590 ft lb tq.
i am by far not an expert i just know what i got on the dyno that day. i got all my sheets.
