What are my options for my truck>??? I think it is time for a turbo upgrade and some fuel mods. I did search "LBZ turbo" but got more exhaust threads than anything else. Any info is appreciated. Thanks, Mat

I'm pretty sure anything available for the LB7 and LLY are also available for the LBZ. Of the top of my head that includes:

the full Aurora Line from ATS
HTT (as I understand it, this is an upgraded BD setup)
BD PowerMax
PPE has several to chose from including custom chargers to your liking
Brayden has the Cheetah which is a modified stock charger - for all BUT the LB7 for now.
I believe Mark Broviak (sorry if I butchered the name) @ Danville Performance also has some modified stock chargers available
Industrial Injection has chargers but right, now no complete install kits that I'm aware of.

That should get you started. What are you wanting from your truck power-wise? What use??

I would like to just push the motor closer to the edge without doing any internal upgrades. What are the good to, about 550-600RW>??? The truck is just a cruiser that tows my car to and from the track. If the car breaks I like to unhook the trailer and let the truck rip. I really have no goals set in my mind. Just want some more get-up and go.

I would get touch with Brayden at Fleece Perforamance. For towing, driving, and just having fun you can't beat his turbo. It has better:D than stock spooling and just flat out works. I don't think anyone who has one will give you a bad report on it. Some may not say:cool: they have them, But that just tells me they are happy also or you would hear about it. Just my thoughts but it would be hard to beat! Jeff

I hear the cheetah is a sweet charger. I wonder if custom tuning for the VVT is needed or can it be run with a tune like the PPE ?

i have the cheetah on my LMM and all i have to say is it is nice. the turbo spools fast and the power it there. i don't have much time on it but i love it so far.

I've tried to get in touch with Brayden(sent him a PM last week). His charger is what I was planning on going with. I never heard back from him. Sorry but I am not gonna beg someone to do business with them.
That is the reason for the thread, trying to see what else is out there.

you are going to need to build your motor if you do twins. it will last for alittle while but for long term it isn't going to hold up.

it won't matter with how much more air flow you will get with it you are bound to blow something up.

Your signature does not say what you all have already. If you have lots of black smoke now, then you need more air. If you have an exhaust and intake, then a turbo makes sense. Once you start talking dual CP3's, bigger injectors, then you definitely need connecting rods. I ran my stock LB7 turbo for 105K miles with close to 500 rear wheel HP. I did not choose to push things with a bigger turbo. The good thing is that you have a lot of options. The modified variable vain turbos seem to be working well for a slight increase. If you want a big increase, especially if you want the fuel upgrades down the road, then look into something bigger like the ATS or Turbonetics when theirs is out.

All I have is a 4" MBRP single shot with no cat, AFE stage 2 with a McRat EFI Live 500 tune.
The transmission is also done of course. ;)

Three years with two twin trucks in the 11's, nothing blown up. Get your facts striaght before you talk trash about a product.

:o: I'll take that as a compliment ? 600-650hp on a vvt single cp3? I'd say that's a shade better than slight increase :D

my LLY is running good. what i was trying to say is if you are going to be running over 550-600hp on stock internals you are going to have problems. the twin turbos are a good product, but i feal if you put a twin kit on a LBZ you are going to be well over the 550-600hp range with it. for a nice not to crazy turbo i would go with the cheetah.

That is a bigger number than I expected. What was done to the engine? Injectors, rods, heads, cam?

596RWHP was done with a 64MM Cheetah and tuning only on an LBZ......Someone had posted the results a few months ago. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=188736&highlight=cheetah

We're putting a 70mm Cheetah on my truck now which is the one that made 596hp with the 64mm. We'll have it ready for Danville's dyno day. Plan on putting it back together this saturday. I'll let you know.

X3 on the towing. I dont do it often. but on occation I tow 10K or more for long hauls

Brayden

LBZ will tow better due to the smaller vanes. The LLY 70mm's will do OK towing but are a bit slower off the line.

So dyno numbers are great and all 600-650rwhp on a single cp3 cheetah turbo setup that i read from above but what about some 1/4 mile times to go with those numbers sound be in the low 12's high 11's right

Sonny we all don't have the luxury of being able to race year round ;) :D :D Man florida sounds nice about now. It's snowing.

I would think that those numbers sound pretty close. A standard cab set up correctly might be able to pull a 12.00 but it's hard to tell. I do know SOTP it's damn quick on the old setup. This should be better.

It's to bad you are taking him out of a class he had a shot at winning something and putting him in a class that he won't be able to compete with. None the less, I can't wait to see how it does also, will be a great comparison between the 64 and the 70.

Do you plan on doing anything to your cp3 at all? I know Brayden makes a modded cp3 and I would be curious to see the results of a cheetah with modded cp3.

Not sure exactly sure how to take this, care to elaborate Mark. Why won't I be able to compete in the 2.6 class?

You would have been in the 2.6 class but the 70mm is a 2.75in unless it has a 2.6 inducer and will pass the plug test and 1/4 of the leading tips are in the 2.6 bore otherwise you would be in the open class because of the charger. Not trying to be mean or anything but I have to up hold the rules for the class to make it fair for everyone.

We'll make 2.6 class. I thought you were meaning I didn't stand a chance in the 2.6 class. But yes we are building this charger specifically for 2.6 class to meet all the rules so I'll be good. But if I did run in the open class, I agree I wouldn't stand a chance. Thanks Mark.

You are welcome, if you pass my tech inspec for it you will pass everyone else 2.6 class rules as well(as long as the exducer is 100mm or less, i don't care about that for what we are doing). No, you stand a very good chance in the 2.6 class.
