: threw codes 0101,p0402,p0106,p0299 WTF???
offthewall 02-18-2008, 09:32 AM well last friday was cruising down 81 messing around with a 350z and some audi. needless to say i threw a code p0234 (engine overboost condition) guess i was trying to hard. but i showed em wat a diesel can do:D. cleared the code and had no problems on the way back.
then the truck sat for the week in the cold. started up and headed out threw a code. kicked it down to stock but ignored it and drove an hour to the airport with no problems. pulled into the airport dropped off a friend and then went to take off. went into limp mode?? wouldnt go over like 30-40. stopped and cleared the code, started up and drove 45 mins no prob. checked the codes (below). wasnt the tranny like i was expecting so i drove it the 1+hour home.
got a p0101(MAF circuit range/performance problem),p0402(exahust gas recirculation flow excessive),p0106(manifold absolute pressure/performance problem),p0299(???) WTF??? any ideas???:(
Dmaxpower2 02-18-2008, 10:37 AM Because of all the codes you mentioned it sounds like the MAP sensor could be frozen. Remove it and dry it out, clear all codes. That should take of it for now, there is service fix coming out to relocate the MAP Sensor.
SES Light Due To DTCs P0101 And/Or P0106 - Inspect Air Filter And/Or MAP Sensor - #PIP4307C (02/14/2008)
06Dmaxpwr 02-18-2008, 10:47 PM I believe there is a TSB out for this...not sure of the year range but they reposition it...might wanna check that out.
offthewall 02-19-2008, 09:58 AM wat is the p0299??
06Dmaxpwr 02-19-2008, 10:04 AM wat is the p0299??
If im not mistaken that is a turbo underboost code.....i'll look
on edit*** yup its a charger underboost
offthewall 02-19-2008, 01:45 PM so i got an overboost, then a week later it throws an underboost. it doesnt even make sense to me how you can "underboost"??? WTF??

The overboost is "your fault"....:D That I can see happening....the underboost is IMO result of the MAP sensor. Like I said there is a TSB out for relocation of the sensor so it dosent get moisture saturated and freeze up. Many guys have experienced this same thing and threw most of the codes you are....
....take it to the dealer and have them search for the TSB for the relocation of MAP sensor and they will replace the actual tubing etc...that should get you back up and running
Dmaxpower2 02-19-2008, 05:13 PM The MAP sensor is culprit and the problem is water freezing in its port, replacing the MAP will not fix your problem.
The MAP sensor is the Boost sensor, if it's stuck at a low range like BARO and you are under boost the MAP Sensor will not see any boost, thus, P0299 sets. When at idle the ECM will compare the MAP sensor to the BARO Sensor (which is in the ECM), they should both closely match each other, if they are off by over 10kPa, then P0106 sets. P0101 and P0402 can also set when the frozen condition is present. Take it in and have the MAP Sensor bulletin done, your problem will be history and you will be :) again.
06Dmaxpwr 02-19-2008, 05:22 PM You mean the relocating of the actual sensor, correct....
If you do a search, there is a lot of other issues related with the MAP sensor bulletin but I think Dmaxpower covered it pretty well...:D
offthewall 02-19-2008, 05:46 PM thanks for the help guys. ya the overboost was definetly my fault but i showed the little cars what a real vehicle can do.:D
06Dmaxpwr 02-19-2008, 05:51 PM thanks for the help guys. ya the overboost was definetly my fault but i showed the little cars what a real vehicle can do.:D
You have to every once in a while....or everyday...:D at least its a quick fix....

Yup, the bulletin has you replace the Intake Manifold AIR Intake Tube which has updated relocation for the MAP Sensor.

It sounded like you where talking about "another" TSB for the MAP relocation....but we are both on the same page....:D
off subject here but where you at in MI
Dmaxpower2 02-19-2008, 08:44 PM :D

06Dmaxpwr, I'm from SE Mi, around the Livonia area.....
Are you a Dmax Tech?

Do I sound like one..........:D
Maybe your thinking of Eric Merchant...?....Im from Holland like the profile said, thats where Eric Merchant is from.....

I should have looked at your profile before asking the question, I did after I posted, I saw the pics of your truck, very nice. :thumb:
I thought you might have been a tech because the bulletin (PI) was just released this month. Also you seem to know a lot about the Dmax.
Am I a tech?
I was a tech for over 20 years, now an Engineer for last 7 years.
Take Care
06Dmaxpwr 02-20-2008, 08:31 AM Hey, thanks for that.......
Looks like you have some experience under you belt also....Quite a bit more than me!! If you have a Dmax post some pics up or put it in your sig...maybe I'll see you around...take it easy
bluecrew06d-max 03-24-2008, 12:50 AM this sounds like my problem back in january. if you have time check out my thread.
20083500HD 08-12-2009, 11:46 PM im also getting this 0101 code i have a full K&N cold air intake on my truck i have read that this code may come up due to a dirty MAF sensor .If this is true how do you go about cleaning a dirty MAF sensor ?
cgfire 08-19-2009, 01:25 AM I have also seen these dtcs caused by the plastic turbo air inlet being loose or off center. I check these with a smoke machine to find leaks.
Remove the inlet, clean it, and reinstall. Fixed lots of them.
20083500HD 08-19-2009, 03:32 PM i will try that . i have cleaned the MAF and it is still doing it so i will try cleaning the air tube thanks for some other thing to try.
Ps what should be used on the inlet tube just water ?
noblescooter 01-17-2011, 08:43 PM I have a 2006 duramax. Truck was parked in the snow and cold for 2 weeks as we went on holiday. Plugged truck in for 24 hours, went to use today started awesome, drove 15 miles and parked for an hour, then back home engine light came on, pulled over check with scanner came up as P0106 and truck limps at 2000 rpm, present temp -32 celcius
If I park overnight in heated shop do you think this will clear the code, or should I try cleaning MAP sensor, truck is all stock do I need to get this flashed at GM? Where is map sensor located?
