a friend recently got his 01' duramax straight piped and it sounds awesome, why does the 6.5 sound so differnt, is it the indirect injection that makes the differnce. id give anything if my truck sounded like that

I like the unique sound of a straight piped 6.5L but if you want it to sound like a D-max start saving and depending on your income, by the time you have 12 grand saved the Dmax will meet you there on the market but you'll be getting a well used vehicle by then.

Both banks have equal-length exhaust runners to the turbo, which is top central rear-mounted.

That configuration, plus the DI design, makes for the enhanced audio experience.

'Nother words - it just....sounds....better! ;)

Do they sound better than the ones with cat back exhausts? Every cat back system I have heard has a really horrible drone from somewhere around 1800 to 2200 rpm. No one here has had the guts to straight pipe one yet due to that. Does the straight pipe have any drone? Personally, I love the sound of a straight piped 6.5!

mine sounds good just not like the other diesels, iv been told it sounds like a 454 with a turbo. i love the way his dmax sounds, its just like a 7.3 powerstroke. when we rolled the windows up there wasnt that much of a drone in the cab

Where can we get some sound clips?

The LLY exhaust clip for my system is here:

The LB7 clip should be restored soon.

I think theses 6.5's straight piped can sound very aggressive if the rpm's are wound up in low speed. You can here it coming before you can see it. I don't even know if my horn works ? It's nice when everyone turns their heads on the sidewalk to see what's rumbling.

Kennedy - I sent you an email the other day (Sunday night I think) for a quote on a straight pipe from my turbo to my muffler to ditch my cat. Wondering if you got it? My spam filter might have killed it so if you sent it, would you mind PM'ing me your reply?

Thanks - Daniel

I don't think I got it, but regardless, I have 4" exhaust systems, but do not mess with the OE 3.5" pipe size.

so then the 4" Banks I have takes OE 3.5" up to the mouth of the muffler, or do you mean it's 3.5" at the turbo out?

I'd like to buy a 4" pipe from you from the turbo to the mouth of the muffler. is that something that you guys carry? I only found full kits on your site.

If not, can you recommend a source?

Thanks.
