My O7 truck is made to run on low sulphur and ultra low sulphur diesel. I'm thinking of making a trip to Mexico sometime this year. I hear that they still use higher sulphur diesel there. What effect will that have on my stock truck that has a EGR and a Cat on it?
What kind of problems, if any, could I run into using the high sulphur fuels?

My LBZ purrs like a kitten on that Pemex stuff. The engine runs really smooth.
Plus, it's only $2 a gallon!

You should be fine.
If that is the case, then why is it said to only run on ULSD? With running the higher sulfer diesel, you will have to regen much sooner won't you? Even run the chance of ruining the DPF?

Not only will it run fine in fact if it wasn't mexican fule you would probably get better mileage on regular diesel than the new ulsd, I know I used to.

Great news! Now I can think about actually making the trip. That fuel price is not bad either. When I bought the Classic I had no idea that I might want to go south of the border sometime. Thanks for the info. This makes my day!

I will normally get about 1 MPG better when I am south of the border
