: High Idle Tech II?

I have installed the pin and hooked up the wire for the high idle, but it does not work. Does it need to be turned on using a Tech II similar to the LB7? I am under the assumption that it didn't need to, however it does not work in my truck.

Thanks

No need for a Tech11. Check your connections again to make sure they are making contact, and that you used the right pin location at the ECM. I found that on the first try I had to engage the cruise control button twice before it kicked in. After that it worked great. Are you using the green/stripped wire on the brake controller? If you used one of those sandwich splice packs make sure you are actually making contact.

I soldered the connection to the green white wire, I've checked the wire by piercing it with a multimeter, I do have +12v with the engine idling and in park. I'm certain I installed it into pin 6 on the bottom plug of the ECM, and I'm certain it was installed all the way. The only thing I haven't done is pull it all apart and check for voltage right at the pin itself. I had high idle on my LB7 and I remember that you had to press set twice on the cruise the initial time.

Thanks

No Dmax techs out there know if I need the Tech II or not? When I talked to the dealer he said he's done several LB7's, but no LLY's, said he would have time later in the week to hook mine up.

Your LLY is already equipped with high idle.

High Idle Speed Enable and Disable
To enable or disable the high idle system perform the following procedure:

Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
Depress the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold down.
While the accelerator pedal is depressed, depress the brake pedal 3 times in less than 8 seconds.
Release the accelerator pedal.
Start the engine.

Now is that to enable it to work as PTO with the cruise control similar to the high idle we installed in the LB7's? Or is that how you enable the standard high idle warm up feature if you don't have a DIC? (which I do have)
Thanks!!

Pwdr Extreme,

You are correct. GMCSID is referring to the "cold weather" high idle which comes standard on the LLY's. The easiest way to activate it is by the DIC, but he has given the "analog" instructions for those without the steering wheel controls.

As far as your problems go, I'm not sure what could be happening. In order to set mine, I have to turn the cruise on and then push the set button on the end of the turn signal arm twice to raise my idle to ~1350 RPM. Pushing the accelerate button will raise it to ~1700 RPM, and pushing the set button will kick it back down to the previous ~1350 RPM setting.

I have to push my set button twice every time the truck has been shut down, but only once if the truck hasn't been shut off. Could this be your problem?

Yes, I have tried pushing the button twice etc. I did have high idle installed on my LB7, so I'm familiar with how it works. I'm just trying to find out if it needs to be enabled using a Tech II the same way it needed to be on my LB7. From what I've been able to find out, some of the LB7's needed it, some just worked when you plugged the wire in. I'm not having any luck whatsoever in finding out about the LLY. Thanks though!
