thanks gm for not filling the fluids in my new 50k truck .
both front and rear difs. down atleast 1 qt. front and close to 2 in the rear.:eek:glad I changed the oil at 1000 miles.

I know this is a popular subject, about low dif fluids. If you read your owner's manual I blieve you will find an explanation for the fluid levels. Don't remember them saying it saves them money. Yes, it does save, but I don't think saving a couple of bucks on lube would make up for the warranty repairs due to low lube.
IIRC my manual says something in the order of 2 to 2 & 3/4 qts for rear dif which keeps the fluid from foaming and reduces heat build up.

talked to the dealer today i know him fairly well said i had a bone to pick he said gm wont pay them to check under any of the new vehicles.
told me he went to p.u. a dealer trade and had a rear end lockup on him
said gm will pay them to warenty but not to check them.
check your difs. and t case

The service manual says not to fill the rear end up to the plug. I don't know why they would put a plug higher than the fill line.
