hello all , i have a electric fuel pump on my 1985 6.2 it was mounted under the hood when i got the truck. Should it be closer to the fuel tank or does it matter? Thanks

It depends on the pump, but they usually should be at the tank and gravity fed.

I installed the electric 7psi Carter fuel pump, with a 30amp relay, by the fuel tank with a spin on 30 micron fuel filter, removed the stock pusher pump and installed a 10 micron filter and it's bomber!

most aftermarket 12v pumps are built for pushing not pulling. I'm guessing the pump you have must be a puller otherwise it wouldn't be able to deliver enough fuel to the IP. does it make a lot of noise when you turn on the key?

yea it make noise i think its a rotary vane type it looks like the electric pump on the newer 6.5's in the frame, it puts out 9psi i think thats the same as the mechanical pump. I moved it the other day its on the frame now right after the selector valve. still have rough idle issues though.:(
but thats another thread
