Hi, We have an old cucv pickup at our fire company. The glowplugs have been hooked up manual since we have had it. I haven't checked them yet but it is getting so it starts hard and I am suspecting glowplugs,my question. The truck is still set up 24 volt start but are the glowplugs 24 volt I don't think they are. Reading on here I would like to go with 60g glowplugs so we don't have to worry about over heating them but will they work?

I believe the glow plugs are 12V. Seems to me that only the starter was 24V.
60Gs are the plugs you need for a manual glow plug system.

Hey since you have a military vehicle with the diesel you should check out steelsoldiers.com look under the forums then they have a cucv page and then there is a sticky dealing with manual glo plugs. Sorry I don't know how to post the direct link and I hope I'm not breaking the rules by doing so. I have a 85 cucv k-5 blazer and have found some useful tips on that site
Good luck

cucv glow plugs have a narrow blade where the wire slides on.if any other glow plugs are to be used a new end would have to be grafted on to the wire to accept the wider blade.

Thanks for the input. What type of connector do the 60g glowplugs take is it just a basic flat blade wire end or is it something special. It would be a little work but no big deal to change ends if it will stop from burning glowplugs. I will have to check out the site on the cucv as I have one myself, but I converted mine over to 12 volt.
Normal crimp connectors fit fine on the blades; I just went into the garage and tried it out with an autolite 1110 plug. The 60Gs have the same blades. Home depot here has the best price per piece on the connectors I could find if you buy them in packages of a hundred, but if you don't need more than 8, you can buy a smaller package anywhere. If the glow plug wires have the same diameter as on civilian versions, get a package of each red and blue connectors and use the ones that fit best.

I just filed down the blades on the 60G plugs to fit the CUCV harness.
