Okay, got the LLY and am using it to tow a large 5er. Probably will keep the truck a while especially since I am probably going to have to have the tranny rebuilt, thanks to the previous owner dogging the piss out of it. The head gaskets are getting replaced Monday so the engine should be fairly fresh unless I have something else burnt up in it from the other guy.

My plan is to go ahead and do a SC III and 1056 rebuild on the tranny. After that the typical exhaust, EGR blocker, PCV reroute will get done. I then plan on a V2 rad mod, Mike L tranny cooler and TX CAI to prevent any overheat from happening.

I want to run about a 100hp EFI live tune but not sure if I should run that high of a tune and tow 14k pounds. Am I safe to run that high of a tune with the mods I plan on doing or am I pushing the safe limits of the engine too much?

What would be a safe level of HP increase to be able to efficiently tow my 5er and not get too wild or risk burning the turbo or something else? I don't race or anything, just like to have the extra power on tap. Any ideas?

Your list looks nice, don't change a thing on it. I don't tow on any higher than a 65hp tune myself. JMO

Why would you buy a V2? Don't you know that only 10 llys overheat and you are just being scared into a $1200 scam? :D J/K LOL

Actually your list looks good. If I only could do one mod the V2 would be it. Between the horsepower it frees up, not having to worry about overheating, or listening to the fan, it is the best mod I have done. My fuel economy also increased at least 1 mpg.

The next mod imho should be exhaust and gauges. Then add some HP.

With a built tranny I think you could do 100hp. Are you going to tune it or have someone else do a custom tune? From what I have heard Kennedy's custom tune is exceptional. Lower egt's than stock plus more power and economy.

I will probably have a custom tune done, but I think I am going to buy the EFI Live myself in case I have to jack with it. The only thing I worry about is EGTs towing heavy with a 100 HP tune. If I can get that kind of power with low EGTs then bombs away. We'll see how it goes. Any other input?
