sorry for the cross post--as this topic started on thedieselpage----i am looking for advice/help---if you have the inclanation please read the following post:

http://forum.thedieselpage.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=008318

it started like this...then got worse!

=-ok----have had the 01 duramax since late 2000. it got an entire new motor at 55000 miles---now has 105000 miles.......

at 98000 miles i brought it to the dealership for a before warranty expires "going over" with the suspision my fuel pump was faulty.
I did have a racor 2 micron after market secondary fuel filter installed --post oem...
(which had proved very effective-each time i changed them both and both the stocker and secondary filters were equally dirty---and my injectors were all in spec )
--which the dealer made me remove before they would look at it (parkway GMC in california)

--anyway---while it was there they said the fuel pump was fine----but i had developed a tranny line leak----i said ok please fix it: 350.00

i went to pick it upfew days later--and tranny fluid was pouring out---i pointed this out to the service writer : who said it was likely residual oil from the repaired leak. however by the time i got home it had dumped 4 quarts of TF.
i brought it back---now they tell me the tranny cooler needs replacement......400.00 more---

3 days later i gat a call the say they havent even started because the power steering pump was bad!!!!

so i say ok i need the %$@^%$ truck fix it!!!

i go there to get it days later---with a list of charges totalling 1300.00 + 389.00. i ask for my old steering pump---they dont have it!!!
i drive home--the new pump is way worse than the old one---wont turn the wheels when idle is low. Oh and the mass flow sensor is also not available for return....

BUT|---here is my MAIN complaint/problem------major loss of power----fuel mileage went from 18.5 mpg to 14 mpg----and there is a knocking.

dealer wont do a thing as i am now outta warranty!!!!!

...so i guess id like to find the mileage and power loss----but how?????

now things are getting worse and the dealer wont even let my truck come back to their service...see the above link....
thanks

thanksYou are still under the 7 year 200,000 mile injector warranty and that is what it sounds like to me. You're better off going to another dealer and making sure the Post OEM filter isn't in there when you do as that may void the warranty for the injectors. Is it smoking? Check the oil level and make sure you aren't filling the crankcase with fuel. I know you said they were fine, but would have them rechecked, they can go south pretty quick. Does California have a law about returning parts on request? I would call GM about the previous service problems after you get the knocking / fuel mileage thing fixed.

He's at Nicholas Chevrolet in Garden Grove. Make sure you contact him first since your in a GMC. Let him know of the problems you've had at the other dealer so he can get you in 'Legally'. GM does'nt like customers crossing over EVEN though they are the same thing. He will take excellent care of you though.

By the way. If you requested all the old parts before it was serviced and it's repairs that you had to pay for, they either have to give you the old parts, not charge you for the repair if they can't or give you a second new part no charge (which I think you can decline and not pay for anything). At least this is how it was years ago. That's why I always request the old parts unless I know and trust the mechanic that works on it (Clyde-Socaldieseltech is, without question, someone I trust).
