I am not sure what happened but I was out plowing tonight and of course some dumba$$ chick pulls in right behind me while I am backing up. So I stop lay on the horn and throw it in drive, I swing the truck around in 2WD(not much snow)and al of a sudden I have no power steering and no rattle. The LLY just died I might have put it on the rev limiter a little but will it just shut off?
It did fire right up. I was just sitting there like what the F@#%!! and the chick in the car is just staring at me coast across the lot.

Mine died on me in the middle of I-80 doing 80mph pulling a horse trailer. It just kind of lurched and then was a dead stick. My Fiance was driving so I had her put it in neutral and try to start, no luck. We put on the flashers and coasted over to the edge of the interstate (luckily it was 8pm and there weren't too many cars). I tried to start it again and it would only spin. I had her pull the key out and wait a couple of seconds and retry. It started that time but the check engine light was on. I called onstar and had them do a diagnostic, but they couldn't find any codes. The check engine light stayed on for the rest of the drive, but was gone the next morning. I haven't gotten it in to a dealer yet to see if they can find any codes. I posted in the ask tech section but never got any replies.

Mine did it too (on the highway going about 70mph, engine light comes on, truck dies) and I have a theory on mine. I just happened to be watching the Edge Attitude at the moment the engine cut out. The engine temp was at 178 and I was accelerating hard to pass. The moment it hit 180 (the temp where the edge power is turned on) the truck immediately began misfiring and then died. It has never happened while cruising, but happened at WOT. Seems like the engine didn't like the perhaps sudden change in programming during a load. Anyone care to test the theory for some data??

The power increase when you are stepping on the throttle before the truck gets to temp with the edge and keeping on it when it hits 180deg. can hit pretty hard. I've done it on level 3 on the freeway with the about 3/4 throttle and was thinking that that can't be good on my truck. Just my $.02
