Here's the scoop. A co-worker of mine (he has a d-max) says that his local dealership will reprogram our trucks with a GM programmer for $100. You can choose between 40, 70, or 90 HP. He didn't have any numbers on the torque increases.
Has anyone else heard of this?

The dealer would be taking full responsibility for repair work since GM came out with a memo stating any power inhancments will void warrenty work if that product caused the problem.

Who was this guy and where did he hear this? What kind of program and what about warranty issues. I would think if you were towing you would not want to upgrade to the 90hp tune and would want to be able to switch it, so what then if they are really doing this???

I talked to one of the Service Writers at the dealership by phone today. He claimed he didn't know anything about it. He said the only way to increase the HP and Torque was with a Superchip, etc. I forgot to ask him what their policy is concerning a chipped truck vs. warranty work.

I had a 02 GMC. The dealership installed a duramaximizer for me at time of purchase. This product being installed, offered, included in the vehicle financing, by the dealership involves them in any warranty issues. My understanding is if a dealership installs a power adder, and this istall is not accompanied by a written waiver, it is an acceptable modification.

Take the "GM programmer" part out of the statement, and it sounds do-able. Nothing from GM is going to do this. He is using some sort of aftermarket programmer re-flash most likely.
