I'm trying to get an idea of how the van's turbo setup is on a 6.5. From what I'm told it's simular to a powerstroke in terms of turbo location. Does anyone have pics of this?

This is from an engine swap on a hummer, same exact setup as a van.

Thanks for the pics. I glanced outside. (but it's to dark to tell) my 93 has a depression in the firewall that might provide space for it. Has anyone tried to install a turbo setup off a van in a 88-98 body style truck? Also where does the vacuum pump go? And if I removed it, wouldn't the oil pump no longer turn?

vacuum pump is in the same place, but I don't see how that has anything to do with the oil pump. Did you see the pic of the block without the turbo installed? Notice the oil feed from the valley, so you would need to swap the block, the heads are also different to accomodate the split manifold design, so you need a complete engine/turbo. I've discussed the swap to a truck with a couple of the guys on the site, general consensus is that you can't do it without considerable firewall modifications.

Yep, probablly not worth the effort. Thanks for the pics however.

Definitely a low score on the bang for the buck scale ;)

The truck's engine oil line isn't that far away from the valley, perhaps it could be made to work?

I saw a really different turbo on a 6.2L that had a big exhaust wheel ~2.5" and was sideways on the valve cover and the exhaust side manifold and down pipe were one.
