i now own a 02 duramax crewcab i have been having some problems with lately. i have 147000 miles on it i have the oppertrnity to buy a 05 with 95000 miles for a good price. i think the change wont cost me much, just wondering if the 05's are much better than the 02's thanx for any opinions.

I had an '02, now an '05.
They are much the same. '05 has bit more power. Also '05 seems to run warmer. Maybe more power & heat with same cooling system. About the same fuel mileage. '05 has over drive inhibit - lock down to 4th. Also had power extend mirrors as an option. Under the hood the '05 has a seccond ECM mounted above the right hand cylinder head. If price is right I'd change up.

Big difference is - on an 05, if you ever have to change injectors, which seems to be rarely, they can be done relatively easily, one at a time.

On the 02, every time an injector goes which seems to be about every 80k miles, you need to pull the whole valve cover and it is a major project. This is covered under extended warranty I think 7 years or 200k miles, but will be very expensive once warranty runs out.
