Getting ready to sell my '97 and have some screw holes in the dash from a bracket I removed.
I'm looking for a dash plastic repair kit of some sort that is color matched. I know I've seen it before but of course now that I need it, I can't find it. Probably in the JC Whitney catalog but that stuff is usually cheaply-made offshore stuff that's overpriced.
Does anyone know if Napa or someone online like Summit has any kind of dash hole repair kit that is color matched?
On a side note - why am I'm getting ready to sell my '97? Because I've had my 2004 K2500 D/A for over a year now! That's about $16K that's been sitting in the driveway ignored because I've been spending all my time and money on my 2500 or THIS FORUM! ):h My wife has given me the ultimatum - sell that damned truck or else! I told her it's your guys' fault that I'm here all day. Hehhe. DP rocks! :ro)
Thanks!

My uncle always puts no smoking stickers over the screw holes. The new owner thinks 'cool, non smoking truck' until he gets home after he buys it and peels off the stickers. :D
60-80 bones would be enough to have it professionally repaired..... nice enough that you would have a hard time finding the repairs. I know you were looking for a "do it yourself solution". That's why I didn't respond before nowl. There is just nothing out there that I would recomend that is able to provide acceptable results. If its really bugging you, Pm me and I'll let you know where to look.

I would think any 2 part epoxy (jb weld) is good enough for a repair of that nature. I would mix up a small amount, let it dry, and hit it with color matched paint for your dash. When dry comare to thr dash color. If good enough, use masking tape to protect the area around the repair, mix up just enough, apply, let dry and touch up paint.
Good Luck!

Mav3 - just post here - I'm thinking it might be of use to someone else eventually. Where would I go for such a thing - a paint/body shop?
Redapple - good call on the JB Weld. I found some stuff in my Helm manual for plastic repair but it's about $40 and I'm thinking, this is just 4 holes - I'll probably go the JB/paint route. Just want it to look "like new" when I sell it.
THanks guys.

For plastic repair, use a product called Plastic Welder. Hard to find, not that expensive, but works far better than many other products I have tried, and I think I've tried them all. It's a two part type product. I usually go to Ace Hardware to get my supply of it.
What I have not be able to find is paint to match the dash color. Anyone?

I remember one of the vendors here sells gauge pods that aren't painted and he's got or has a link to someone who's got colormatched paint for those. I can't remember who it was though. Maybe someone else will chime in.

THanks guys.If you would like to find someone to do this for you, Go to several of the local dealerships in your area and talk to the service and/or sales manager. Ask this person who does the best repairs for them. Try the high end dealerships because they usually care more about how well the repairs turn out.
So far the ideas about JB weld and color matching sound like they would probably work OK. You just have to weigh the time/cost/result factor and decide which works for you.
I do this for a living and am pretty picky about this sort of thing. I am worried that the results from your own efforts would not come close to what could otherwise be acheived.
Good luck:rolleyes:

I'm gonna go the JB Weld route today and then touch it up with Testors model paint. I can color match that to just about anything and it's close enough to the right brightness and opacity to meet my needs. I'll try to shoot some before/after pics.
Well.... how did it turn out? Post a picture....
