It seems once I put on the winter grill cover it guarantees 6 weeks of really cold weather. So far it been pretty mild in the northeast and only plugged the truck in twice.

"You're Mr. Freeze Miser, whatever you touch, starts to freeze at your touch, you're too much." ):h

That or you're part groundhog.

Had mine on for past 3 weeks. Plug it in pretty regular, too. What really amazed me was the 2 days of 50* last week.

Tom

Seems like when I put mine on, it gets warmer. Then have to take off....then have to put back on again.....

Just put it back on, so should warm up.

I put mine on and leave it on until Spring or until I stop for fuel in Georgia or the Carolinas on my way south for my annual February Florida run! Seriously, I just left it on for the couple of days in the 50s with no abnormal indications on engine or tranny temp.

I took my grill cover off because trans temp was as high as if I was towing on a 95* day. About 57* out, on the highway.

I put mine on in the late fall and take it off in the spring. As long as you're not flogging the truck, it will be fine.

same goes with my snow plow mounts for my western plow. I leave them on no snow. 4 days later it snows 2 inchs. and then i put my winter grill cover on cuz it's 16 degrees it goes up to 40 the next day.

I got tired of taking it off and on with the temp. changes from 40-50 to 20s, so I sewed a zipper in the shape of a U like an encloser on a boat curtian. When the outside temp go up or the truck starts to run alittle too warm I open the zipper and it cools right down to normal temps, it runs cold close the zipper :ro)

Had the cover on for almost a week now and it warms up much better. Have also plugged in the last couple of nights. It will probably sit the weekend unless we get the good snow storm the weather people are talking about.

Bought my 2002 Chev used and didn't get a grill cover. We will be going to Colorado at lot and was wondering if a cover from a 2001 GMC would work. My neighbor is selling his duramax and has offerred me his grill covers. Does anyone know?
Thanks
Richard

RVarner; don't know about the fits. But you can buy after market grill covers. Clound Rider makes a metal cover. Looks nice. Max Power (member here) sells 'em.

this is probably grounds for getting banned from here or something worse....

I walked out to my dmax @ 3:30pm after work the other day and fired it up. Thought to myself... "Wheew it's hot"... looked at my mirror temp... 90!!!!! Flipped on the AC for bit, rolled down all the windows and took off... after 15mins the mirror gauge read 83 and stayed like that the rest of the way home. Almost didn't want to go home with an afternoon like that.

Mind you this was Wed. January 19, 2005. :)

But it's a dry heat...Right? ...Yaa. so.

sorry guys had to tell ya that one... FWIW it's a nasty winter day today. 60 and rain all day. :)

It's good that you are warm, but you are not doing your truck any favors in Michigan Winter. The winter cover is not about cabin heat. It's about getting the engine up to more efficient operating temperature more quickly. It's about keeping the excellent cooling system from "fighting" the engine for efficient operating temperatures when the ambient air is at low temps. It actually makes the front of my truck more aerodynamic - adding about 1 mpg to my cold weather highway economy AND helps keep the slush, grime and salt out of my aluminum radiator and tranny cooler.

Well my friend, I hope you're having fun, because the other morning when I went to start her it was -47*C, which to you american folks is about -53*F. Plugged her in all night and started great in the morning. Needless to say the grill cover is on and has been for quite a few weeks!

Ltrain This is were I got mine and I love it, its got 2 flaps in the cover that can be opened to get more air if needed and attaches with plastis snaps that hold very well and havent had a problem with the snaps coming off.http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/horizontal-pod.jhtml?id=0005914&navAction=push&navCount=1&indexId=cat20133&parentId=cat20133&parentType=index&rid=&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fcatalog%2Fpod-link.jhtml_A&_DAV=MainCatcat21412

Are you saying you get heat in 5 minutes, or your temp gauge is up? Or do you park in a heated garage?
