I have snow p;low prep on my 05 and it says there was a hole in firewall put in with the package. Does anyone know where it is. Cant see one. Maybe just getting bad eyes.

Should be to the left of the master cylinder if your looking at it from the front of the truck. Look for a spot with no insulation on the firewall both inside and outside. Might be a rubber grommet plugging the hole that you have to cut to run the wires through.

I'm pretty sure that the grommet was last done on the 2002. In an area to the upper right of the fusebox on the firewall should be a roung plug of insulation that's part of the firewall insulation. Pull the plug and start drilling. Should end up in the spot mentioned above...

go find bmdmax's excellent write up on installing gauges. He has a picture of where you need to drill to go through the firewall.

I have the snow plow prep on my 04, too. Even though they claim there is a hole, it is not there....only the clear spot in the firewall to drill your own.

My 04.5 HD was the same way . Plow Prep Package and no hole or

gromment:ro) . I went to the GM Upfitter sight and downloaded the directions for the snow plow prep package that shows the grommet with the part no for it. I printed them out and took them to the dealership and they had no problem getting it for me under warrenty. They whined about it and it was a special order that took a couple of weeks. But it didn't cost me a thing:p
If you go out on the dealers lot and look under the hood of the ones they got sitting there with the plows on them most likley don't have the gromet.

My 05 has a grommet under the dash, it is over the fusebox or something under there. You have to be a monkey to get your hand in ther but it is there. I will try to take a picture tomorrow.
