Ok guys, i'm still learning about my D-MAX. I just added the Juice w/Attitude to my truck, so I know that my stock tranny's life just got shorter! :rolleyes: When it goes out I want something that can handle my Edge plus maybe a few other things on down the road!:D What would be my best thing to do? Buy a complete tranny from someone or what?

Daddy buys nothing for me. He just tries to keep up in his Vortec 6.0! He bought me my first truck when I was 16 (1988 Z-71) and that was it. I was thinking a shift kit, but the only one requires dropping the tranny. How much does it usually cost to install a full Transgo kit?

If you're going to pull the trans for the shift kit, do the converter and clutches also.

not sure on cost, but im with dentpusha. dont wait on it to go out. go ahead and take care of it now. if youre not planning on any more mods, i would go with the SCIII and a 1057. It will hold all that the EDGE can throw at it. had the juice/*** on my '02. held it strong for 50k, then once she started letting go it was quick. went from driving around all day every day on 3 to running it stock and just keeping the attitude for my gauges. but man it sure was a fun 50k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone know the cost of the shift kit, clutches and converter? Also is the SCIII with 1057 a full tranny or what? What's the price on it? Just trying to get an idea on my future bill! :)

SCIII is a kit to go in the tranny. Does the dawg in your name mean you are in GA somewhere? If you are, try calling Garmon Diesel. He can quote you a price for install. I called him for a quote on a SCIV a few weeks ago. Very helpful. I believe the number is 404-557-4972.

Yea I'm from good ole GA! Thanks for the info man! I'm gonna give him a call in a few weeks! I'm glad I started checking on the tranny info, cause I slipped OD last night on Extreme! It dropped into 4th and wouldn't upshift.
