L.TIK 01-16-2005, 10:30 AM What is a good oil to use year round? I have heard the Mobil-1 is tops, doubt the dealer uses this! Trucks get alot of use, we dump the oil every 3k. I just seen yesterday that they now have Supreme 9000 which is a full synthetic 5W-40 and when comparing specs, its ranks better then most anything I have seen. Thats whats going in mine! L.TIK Const Co. aka108 01-17-2005, 08:25 AM Shell Rotella 15-40 in FL and GM filter. cbmkr 01-17-2005, 02:50 PM Try AMSOIL 5W-30 HD DIESEL oil , we have 4 vehicles on this program and 2 pieces of equipment. you can do exteded run with there product also. on my LLY we do a 14k on oil with filter change at 7k if it keeps checking out fine we are going to a 21k with 7k filters.the 5W-30 is also great for cold weather starts.With there oil and air filter we noticed a mileage increase also.we have a cummins in a loader with 600 hours on the oil and the oil analysis is still great.I am currently running a predator at 40 hp tune we have noticed a great hp and mileage increase we are up to 14.5 pulling a 14' trailer loaded at 7500# SSNIGHTMARE 01-17-2005, 03:12 PM For those of you who are running the Amsoil 15w-40 synthetic how does it start in the winter compared to mobil-1 5w-40 synthetic? Spent 2 weeks in Massachusetts over Christmas and had several below freezing starts with no problems at all. Plan to upgrade to amsoil 5w-40 next change at 18k. Currently have 15k on it. | ||
