I had my truck at the dealer to have a few things checked and I just picked it up and thought this may be of some interest. Unfortunetly it's afterhours so I couldn't talk to anyone about these items.

1.) Check engine light as reported in another thread came on for about a day. Truck ran slightly weird off the line but otherwise fine. The light was off by the time I got it in to the delaer. They found code P2563 - Turbocharger Vane Control Position Sensor Performance. They checked for bulletins and found nothing so this one is a gremlin I guess.

2.) Tranny lines leaking again - I thought this was the same mystery leak many are seeing around the bellhousing but they say tranny lines. BTW I just had these replaced 1800 miles ago (truck has about 15K miles on her), New lines ordered.

3.) Recall #07293 - Trans overheat in extreme cold temps (isn't that an oxymoron) They completed the recall but I have no idea what that means??

Update:

The tranny lines apparently are an issue and GM is supposedly coming out with a new design to rectify the problem. Time will tell.

The recall on the tranny in cold weather is apparently caused by too much pressure in the allison during extreme coldweather starts. It's an LMM thing (which I can't understand being different from LBZ's) but the results are cracked housings. Recall is a program change to limit pressure on cold weather starts somehow? I wonder if the higher pressure was causing the line failures?

If this all sounds like BS don't shoot the messenger.. this is what the dealer said.

The lbz's have the same problem with the lines. There are tons of posts on this. The problem is that GM made lines with a crappy crimp and when its really cold the aluminum and rubber expand and contract at differnet rates causing a leak. Until they come up with a new line they are gonna still leak.

I was told yesterday the tranny reflash was due to the engine cover on and when you set your high idle after 20 minutes you could melt down the converter or such.

I received a letter today from GM regarding the tranny reprogramming. It says if the vehicle is operated for an extended period of time below -40 it has limited or no transmission fluid flow through the cooler and transmission damage may occur. It also says elevated idle should not be used during these conditions unless the reprogramming has been completed. It points out this is not the same TCM reprogramming offered in 2006.

Good thing it's not below -40 very often... and if it is I'm in my house drinking a beer not driving my truck!
