: Operate Juice / Attitude in tow / haul for performance?

Is there any benefit (or problem) of running my juice / attitude in the tow/haul mode (other than for towing)? It seems to have more power, but i'm not for sure if it is damaging to the tranny or not.

If it is NOT damaging, would it be better to run it always in tow/haul, or only occasionally?

What about in 4WD?

FYI, i am running my juice on level 3, w/ NO tranny mods.

thanks for the help / responses...

it feels stronger becuase the converter is locked up. Thats a good thing, bad thing is that when the converter is locked up, line pressure drops in the trans quite a bit, thus lowering holding capacity.

L3 should be fine with a stock trans.

so am i actually better off running it w/ the tow/haul mode on while i am getting on it? or just leave it in normal mode?

either way, pro's and con's.

You wont hurt anything in L 3 regardless IMO.

I always run faster in tow/haul..............even with the stock trans I turned better times.

fireresource, did you try just taking the overdrive off, without engaugeing tow/haul? mine seems to run alright this way.

i didn't try turning the od off yet, will tomorrow....

don't get me wrong, the juice runs great, but it FEELS alot better in the tow/haul mode...

It's interesting to hear that the T/H mode has less holding power. Does the line pressure hold the clutches closed or release them? I too feel more roll on power in T/H and experience more pull at lower rpm under load as well as cooler trans temps. I expected that when my tune is born, I would be in T/H when working the truck hard with the stock trans. thanx geo.

You feel more because the converter is locked up and your getting it through the ground. The fluid pressure holds the clutches closed, unlike some of the Moper units that rely on a huge spring to apply the clutches and the fluid pressure to overcome the spring.

This is exactly the reason for the Transo Boost valve. It allows you to maintain 170 or 190 psi when locked up vs ~150 stock

so if i leave it in t/h mode, could it cause problems down the road? i don't want to cause unnecessary damage to my torque converter because it is locked up and unable to hold the engine torque

Is the fluid pressure rpm related? What rpm is max pressure realized? Adding the boost valve alone, create any problems? thanx geo.
