Hope this is the right section to post this. :o Does anyone have a pic of what the '06 GMC HD front end is supposed to look like?

I saw something somewhat like it a while back but you could tell it wasn't a real pic and was curious if a real pic had surfaced...

I can't remember where I saw it, but last fall I saw a picture of what was supposdly the 2006 GMC HD grille. I quickly ordered my current 2005 GMC 2500HD SLT CC once I saw that picture. The grille is HUGE similar to the Ford and Dodge. It looks like GM is going towards the mini-Class 8 look that Ford and Dodge have gone to with their heavy duty pickups.

That look really doesn't do anything for me. I'm not a wanna-be long haul trucker. The only thing they get that appeals to me is a little booty in their back seat.

Seen in once on Popular Mechanics site a while back. They must have taken it off though, couldn't find it. Was not very impressive, needs to be a bit bolder. Looked like the front was all they changed too, but not for certain.

That is the one I saw a while back. Looks more like a Ford with some red lettering.

What's wrong with GM's engineers? Do all of them have the Fugly gene flowing in their veins? Whatever happened to a good looking aggressive truck. One that would make everything move over a lane when they saw you coming up in their lane.

Looks Like GM is jumping on the dodge/ford bandwagon!

Looks like the new Ford 150s if you ask me.

That photo is shopped and I don't believe that the 06 GMC will look like that or even near it. For 1, if there was a pic, it would be embargoed and magazines can't print it. For 2, the GMT 900 will be coming out in 2007 with the HD's coming out in 2008. We have another 1.5 years of the trucks that we have now. Believe it or not, but GM listens to enthusiests opinions on what their vehicles look like. Why else would they have brought back the buldging hood. I just wished you can still buy a 2001-2002 Chevy truck. I am ASSUMING that the GMC will be noticably different than the Chevrolet when the GMT 900 rolls out. I would not expect to know what they will look like until Julyish 2006.

Also, expect the interiors to be above and beyond the "new" f-150..

We've seen that pic on this site before, I personally think it looks like a fish with chrome lips.

The MY's I like best are "01 and '02. And that's not because I own one either.

At least Chevy used there heads and brought back some of the older styling back for 05, for now anyways.

The bigger grills are much better, hang a 9 foot plow off the front of your truck you need all the air flow you can get.

Oshawa truck plant gearing up now as lead 900 production plant protos made tooling being installed now and in the near future new fenders girlls hoods and updated closure. Deeper boxes counterbalanced tailgates power rear slider windows and of all things a V10 for the Denali

Its ugly. Glad we bought new before they totally screwed up the truck.

Yes, that picture from Popular Mechanics is the picture that made me go down and order me a 2005 GMC as fast as I possibly could. And I agree with one of the posts above - the 1999-2002 Chevys will go down as classics - one of the best looking trucks GM has ever done. The 2003 "scary face" avalanche look pushed me over to a GMC.

Now if GMC actually does use the grille in this picture then I can see many years of just putting in rebuilt Duramax engines in my '05 cause I will neve buy another new truck again.

Please GM, come to your senses and quit letting 21 year old kids design your trucks.

GM is fighting serious overheat issues, and has been for some time. Redesigning the front end for airflow (read bigger) is the only way that will happen, I don't doubt for a minute that it will look more like the brands that don't have the problem.

When will any body know what the new look for GMC's will really be?
I want a newly designed truck, alot more ground clearance, bigger fender wells, wider rims, bigger tires, D-max with 500 rwhp, a Allison tranny that can take all the HP you throw at it, front and rear independent suspension(for ground clearance),and new colors also.

When they say Heavy Duty they should be built stout through out the truck, definately should look different than a 1/2 ton 4x4:ro) :ro) :ro) :ro) :ro) :ro)

You can get all that. You just have to spend $15,000 over the top of the price of a new truck. ):h

It's a waiting game! Although there is speculation of pressure at the GM house about getting these trucks out sooner than planner. No preset dates or times. Just have to be patient ans wait. Normally, ~March GM lets the details out and by July-August the pictures come out. No big need to get spun up now....

I hope GM doesn't let you design their new HD truck - it would look ridiculous. Alot of us use a truck to WORK out of - a concept that a lot of owners of "pretty boy" trucks probably don't understand. If I wanted a truck that looked like a Class 8 truck I would BUY a Class 8 truck!

I have two dislikes about the current HD...

1. The hood, wish it looked a little tougher (I like the rest of the front end though).

2. Get the 4x4 off the ground! We changed the oil in our truck and I could barely get underneath.

Other than that I love my truck. Someday we'll have a custom fabbed hood made and probably a 4" suspension lift (3" if we can find one-we still need to be able to haul a gooseneck horse trailer).:grd:

I wouldn't get to worked up over it guys. Some of those "pictures" are just some artist guessing what it will look like. I think I remember viewing some pictures of a 2003 or something GMC a couple of years before that and it was hiddeous:eek: Luckily, when they did come out they were pretty far from the picture i saw earlier. But then again, if it actually does look like that in 06', i'll go back to my corner.

Speculation or not, the first thing that came to mind when I saw the pic was that it reminded me of the Jeep Wagoneer from about 30 years ago.
I wouldn't be surprized that they would "issue" concept drawings that "slipped" out just to get a first reaction. After all, the political parties do the same thing and it provides them with the first blush of popular reaction and at the same time doesn't hold them to any position....smart thinking IMHO. So my input would be tell it as you see it and don't hold anything back. They just might be looking at these forums as part of a first reaction.:grd:
