I've got one in my truck, with a stock converter.

It holds the VA200+ and a Quad Edge stack but the converter is junk. Its the basis for a Suncoast upgrade and its the most cost effective upgrade you can do that is worth anything.

Thanks guys. I just found out that the trans has to be torn apart to install this kit. I'm not gonna be doing that anytime soon. Maybe down the road but not now. How about the Bully Dog shift enhancer? Is it worth a hoot? I guess all the talk of limping the Ally has me scared of trying level III on my Hypertech PP. Just looking for a little more holding capacity.

Why doesn't anyone at least look at the last couple pages of posts before saying stuff? It's so easy and a good way to learn a thing or 60.

I'll add that it seems the Allison's holding capability may be less a product of RWHP, and more a product of peak TQ. If the TQ doesn't come on too radically, I've seen them hold out to 415+RWHP in a bone stock transmission. The big thing I see slip in a 4th gear dyno test is the TCC. This slip tends to come on the front end of the torque rise, and in many cases, the converter seems to take hold and finish up with little or no slip above 2600RPM. I've seen over 450RWHP from a transmission that slipped and recovered.

Now this is NOT to say the converter is the only weak link as there could be and probably are clutches at or near the point of slip...

I'm very interested in going with just the transgo kit. How much is involved in installation, R & R and so forth?

Is it a D.I.Y. job for a mechanicly inclined person?

Thank-you for your time,

Rob
