I checked the codes on my truck today and there is a 49 there. I cleared is and it came right back.
My scanner says "STS Lamp Circuit Fault"
What is an STS lamp?

Service engine soon light is out?

The code doesn't turn it on but it does still work.

The lamp may be beginning to fail - I'd replace it.
Also gives you a chance to inspect the inst panel circuitry and connectors.

Are you checking the Service Engine Soon (SES) lamp? I think 49 is for the Service Throttle Soon (STS) lamp. This from Kennedy's web site-DTC 49 - Service Throttle Soon Lamp Circuit Fault. One time after reading engine codes I forgot to remove the jumper wire, and when I started the vehicle the STS light came on, removed the wire and the light went out. I don't know what component failure triggers the STS lamp.

It's *usually* the APP, or go pedal that trigger the STS light to come on. Or, it's some fault related to the APP, and the signal the ECM is getting from it. Wheather it's the pedal itself, wiring, or something interfering with it to make it not work right.

Oops, I didn't realize there was a post like that. I did search for code 49 but didn't find it.

Anyway, I didn't have any codes for the APP so I don't think it is the problem. Hopefully it will go away on it's own.:D
