i work for a dealer in rochester,ny and had a customer state he couldn't get the gm winter cover on the bumber of his gmc and i tried to do it myself and found the bumper has about 2inches extera hight with holes for an air deflector i first thought someone at the factory screwed up but then realized all the rest of the 2500hd and 3500 gmc sierras we have are the same way

in fact i found if i ordered a new bumper for my 04 it has ben replaced by this ne cover of which i think is a bad p#change

i have a call into gmpartech and some engineers are looking into it however i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem
thanks
mike

I hadn't noticed a big difference between the 05 bumper and the 04, I'll go look tonight..

the only real differance is at the bottom there is an added lip and holes for mounting a airdam which isn't a problem unless you own a diesel and try to use the factory winter cover because the lip adds about 2inchs more area the cover needs to stretch

Hmm. Even more air dam huh? I would like less air dam.. I don't use the bottom part of the winter cover because it seems like too much to just cover 2 little holes in the bumper.. That way it can be removed quicker too, that top part is simple.

the lower cover may cover too much area but if you lived in roch,ny and got behind a salt truck on the road you would want it to help prevent paintchips

Here is a picture comparing the two, the bumpers look the same to me, maybe the different hood and grille are causing the problems? I just realized that this is for GMC, sorry, but enjoy the pics anyway!!
