I'm going to put an alpine HU into my truck which at the moment has just the factory CD player. No bose stereo, no onstar, nothing. Just the regular factory CD player. If I don't put in the door chime module is that the only thing that I will lose? I heard somewhere that something else went through the factory radio too?

I was going to find that out on mine, but never got around to it. Maybe this weekend..... unless someone else "chimes" in on what else may be lost.

I tried not plugging that module in and it won't work at all without it. Just open it up and remove the wires from the speaker.. No more dinger, all other functions are perfectly fine.

So the HU won't even work without that module plugged in? Guess I should figure out where I put it.

It wouldn't power up or anything without it. I just stuck it back behind the radio between the dash and the plastic for the vent and it was tight enough to hold it. Almost 7000 miles now and hasn't rattled loose, and I drive fast on crappy dirt roads most of the time. Like I said, just pop it open and rip the wires off the little speaker and put it back together, no damn dinger... I love it..

I do not have steering wheel controls. I have the pac module from jp customs, the door chime module is what it's called. He told me that's what I need so he sent it with my ttt mirrors I bought from JP customs.

I do have the steering controls and I know I can get the other wiring to make them work as the remote for my pioneer but I don't care, my arm reaches to the stereo... Would be nice sometimes but at the time I just wanted to get it in. The other controls for the DIC still work fine, just the ones for controlling the radio don't and it doesn't bother me.
