How decent is the mileage on these trucks.. I'm considering buying one with the pickup conversion.. It looks great.. I like the feel of it.. They couldn't locate one as I wanted, and they're saying two to three months before it actually comes in..
As far as pricing, I was wondering if anyone feels they got a great deal, and if so, what kind of money it was.. My price for a loaded 4500 4x4 pickup with leather and many other little options was 56,000... The only problem is, They told me they didn't advertise an MSRP on a sticker.. They told me MSRP is around 75 grand.. I can't hardly believe that.. The salesman said there was just a lot of markup in these vehicles.. What do you all think?? Is this a good price?? Just don't want to get screwd.. Thanks...

I have seen a 4500 pickup for sale in New Mexico at a dealership, for $78,600. It had 4 wheel drive, admittedly, but surely that is not worth $36,000. The only other difference from my truck was power locks and windows, leather, tinted windows, and a pickup bed. I figured that I can get a front axle adaptation for $10,000, and power locks and windows for about $3,000. Leather is not something I like - I already have a truck with leather and don't want another.. I can get a pickup bed for $1,000. that way I would have the same truck for about $15,000 less. I was horrified to see the mark up on the leisure class medium Duty trucks. (I could buy a 4x4 International 7 series for the same price.. with a GWR of 33,000.)

Getting one already made up for $56 is a good deal compared to the price I saw in NM.

My 4500 averages 10-11 MPG thats a average of 50/50 being loaded and empty never ran a full load of fuel empty.

Thanks for the info and websites... Cole99, that mileage doesn't seem bad at all considering that's partial towing mileage as well.. On the interstate empty, I bet the mileage would be great.. If these trucks could get 15 mpg, that would be awesome.. The best I've got with my 2500 is a little over 19 mpg..
The dealership contacted me and informed me they could do 56000 on the 2wd they have in stock (sticker was said to be 69000).. He said 4x4 would add 6000 (close to 10000 on sticker price).. It's loaded with everything, though I have to have 4wd.. He contacted me by email about an hour ago to inform me he located two black 4wd's in the US... I had previously told him 56000 was my max on a 4x4.. Hopefully they were able to get the price where it needs to be.. We'll see... =)... Wish me luck..

Thanks pete...

I actually have a 5500... and the 4x4 are REALLY low geared. 5.13 is the tallest, 5.38 is the other choice. The 4x4s are speed limited to 75mph.. I get about 10mpg alot less pushing it on the highway. My mileage doesn't vary much from 8-10 plowing..

My 4500 with 4.44 gets 14.6 mpg under 2000 rpm on the highway, towing empty or going faster drops it to 11, with a load I get 9 or less.

Chtucker, is your truck an '04 or '05?? The dealership told me they didn't make an '04 4x4.. They gave me a new price today.. A completely loaded 4x4 4500 crewcab dually for 61,000... They're still gonna have to bump my trades quite a bit to get me where I need to be.. I'm gonna keep trying...

Morse, there is a red 4500 4X4 crew cab with aluminum dump box on a dealer's lot here. $63063 list, $55307 net, plus $2000 rebate, and $1000 if you title it under a business name, (commercial incentive). Possible $52307. It also has aluminum wheels. I drool every time I go by.

I purchased a 2003 5500 19,500 gvw w/ 18 foot stake bed that gets around 13 combo city/hwy driving partially loaded during summer months. I think the old motor helps with the mileage. My driver is pretty easy on the pedal which helps. This is a great truck with zero problems in 25,000 miles.

I wish they'd come down to 52,000... It would be mine.. We'll see if they come close, cause I can't go higher..
Nice to hear no problems Soapy... I wish I could get the LB7 motor.. I have a lot of toys for that model..
