Will a triple disc and trans go handle 125hp (beaten on it) or will I need more? I have had the regular OJ on for over a year now and want to be able to us the up tunes. I'm not really in to racing the truck. Just like to blow some friends of the road from time to time. I would also like to be able to tow in level 3/4 and not hurt the trans as long as the egt's are in check. It is very unlikely that I will ever put any more on it.

Yup.... Transgo will reliably hold 400-425RWHP.
But since you have the trans pulled anyway, why not go just a little bit further?

Ah the days when I told myself all I wanted was to run the 90 and maybe 125 hp juice):h

I just can't be that rough on a 40K truck! 125hp is enough for me.What do you suggest? lv 2 suncoast?

Level 3 is the minimum I would go.

Yup. Definately a Level3 Suncoast.
DTT is also introducing transmission upgrades as well.... stay tuned for more information. Their web link is in my sig. So if you have had a Dodge with a DTT before, you will know what to expect.

A stage 2 is just OEM replacemnt clutches with a 3 disk converter and transgo shift kit. For 125hp a 3 disk is overkill IMO
Mike's recomendation is just becasue he has heard alot of us say the same thing, oh I just want a lil......He's calling BS on you(LOL) and figuring its better to over build it then go nutty and need to rebuild it. For a stage 2 you gota have everything out anyway, you might as well put higher holding power clutches in there. Its not much more to go up to a stage 3 atthe time of install as apposed to doing a stage 3 after you already put in a stage 2. Better to have too much than not enough.
But a 125 juice and a stage 2(or even a stage 2 with a single disk) would live very happy together. You are just saying tose dangerous words"its unlikely I will ever put any more on it" Soon you will be asking about when the new turbos are out or about nitrous and asking for the Extreme):h Dont BS me, I see the thoughts of diesel smoke and whiping up on vettes in your eyes):h

Just ribbing ya manhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif Still better to overbuild than underbuild. But only you truely know what you are going to do with her. Sure you dont wana go to a hot juice;) ):h

don't get me wrong. I do believe in over building every thing. The problem is I'm trying to scrape up enough $$ to build my custom chopper. That means I will have 3 $35K+ toys in the garage. So I want to put it over the level that is just acceptable for these levels. I see on SC site that the L lv trans and converter is $4277. The stage lll is $2195. My ? is what would the difference in $ for installation. Pull it out and replace or pull it and rebuild it and replace it. Just a though. I know L lv is over kill though

Price on install really shouldnt change.
So if you will have 30k in toys in the garage whats the difference in 30k and 31k):h
Gotta ask yourself why you want to run the power level you do. And also if you just want to play around or drag or pull this thing or what. Is all you really want to do is run what you have without worry? Or do you not want to add more HP becasue you dont want to spend the $$$? if the answer is the latter then I would go for overbuild, if you truely dont want more power than a level 3 is overkill.

You hit the nail on the head. I want to be able to run what I have or a hot juice with absolutely no concerns. The hot OJ is even a stretch. I use this truck to pull my toys around and week end driving. I keep my junk truck for daily driving and the dirty jobs unless I have to tow something. Toyota's don't tow very well!

I should do the install my self but think it might be better to let some one else do it. I have never gone into an auto before. Not to mention the size of the trans. It is sure to be a PITA to muscle around. I have built numerous motor but never a trans.

Its pertty easy internally especially as auto's go.
The weight is the biggest factor. If you have a good trany jack the R&R is alright with 2 people(doeable with 1 but I woulndt recomend) You need to have your truck up far enough to get the trans out. Possibly a few guys to get it off the jack and back on under the truck, that would cut the distance you need to lift it a TON. 3 guys min here. Now if you dont have something with forks on it 3 guys could get it onto an engin stand. once its on the stand its all gravey with 1 guy if you have the right tools. Then its the same deal in reverse getting it back up
You need special
A Transgo Book!
A squasher to compress the c1-c2 rotating drum
assortment of LARGE pics(size of screw drivers, duno if you have)
A good trans jack(needs to have a forward backward tilt and a left and right and be able to support the trans)
An adapter deal to bolt the PTO cover and slide into your engine stand(I made mine)
Other than that its nothing a regular good stocked DIYer wouldnt have like torque wrench and assorted wrenches and sockets, swivels, long extensions.
Fingers

Did mine solo. Tranny is heavy, but managable once the TC is off. Give yourself lots of elbow room to lay out the parts and you should be fine.
