Hey guys, well I was outside pulling my backseat last night getting ready to chop it to lay down, when I rolled my window up, and it went vmmmmm-shcrsssss-shrechssd-VEEEEEEEEEMMMMM, So i took the door panel off to see that the small cable(that I think is supposed to be in the liner) was not so much in the liner, or connected to anything, it seemed like it was all rusted up, and frayed in like 2 different spots causing it to snap... So now it looks like I'll be replacing the window regulator. Has anyone replaced theirs before? I can get one at Advance for 86 bucks it looks like, made by Dorman? Or it looks like the GM one lists for $175:eek: but available from Partszoneonline for $101, but who produces these? Also does anyone have any instructions about how to replace these? Glass gotta come out? Any help is appreciated guys

Thanks guys

I replaced my right front door regulator and motor several weeks ago. I taped the glass to the door header to hold it in place. There are two bolts that hold the glass to the regulator. Loosen those. There were five bolts holding the regulator and motor in place. Remove those. You should be able to remove the regulator and motor then. The new regulator comes with an extra piece of plastic to hold the cable assembly in place. You need to remove this very carefully and hold the cable assembly in place while you install the motor. You can discard the plastic piece. The motor goes where the extra piece was on the regulator. I would replace the motor also. I'm a GM retiree and bought my parts through a dealer supplier, so I can't suggest who has the best price for parts.

Well it looks like all that I'm seeing is coming together with the regulator, so hopefully it'll all come assembled. I am in fact planning on replacing the motor with the regulator, as my motor was seeming to be alot slower than the pass. side motor.

Has anyone heard of Dorman? As in the brand of window regulator. I def. dont wanna pay 88 bucks for something that is just going to crap out on me, but I def dont wanna pay $120+ odd dollars for a regulator made by the same damn manufacturer.

dorman has alot of good aftermarket parts. also if it doesnt come with the motor when u take the plastic piece off make sure you keep the plastic pully down in the regulator body it is a real hassel to rewind it if it poppes out of the groove other than that it is a very simple proceedure actually if you have the door panel off the hard part is done other than bolting on the motor.

mine took a crap on my in my 2000 chevy right after i left the dealer for warranty work. i turned right around and had them fix it.

then there was my 93 chev. i was out working on the grill guard (in the college parking lot) and had my window down so i could listen to some music. i went to roll up the window and nothing. i freaked out because it was getting late and i didnt want to leave my truck out there with the window down.
i ended up slamming the door and it worked. never had the problem again.
that was probably a loose wire that time..

Actually, its the regulator that usually causes the binding and slow running of the window, not the motor. I would personally not replace the motor unless its burned out. I replaced the regulator only in my '03 Suburban. It had been running very slow and with the new OEM regulator and original motor, now runs faster than the other side
