I just got done performing maintenance on my truck (fuel/oil/spin on trans filters and steering shaft greasing) and now I have the 'Service Airbag' DIC message and the steering wheel controls aren't working. I assume that when I was working on the steering shaft, I must have bumped a plug loose, but I don't see anything obvious. Can someone help me and let me know where this plug is??

Or maybe it's just a coincidence and something broke, but I don't think that's as likely as me screwing up and unplugging a connector without knowing it...

Thanks!

Did you tie the steering wheel in place with the seatbelt when you removed the shaft? If you let it spin free or turn out of position, you may have damaged the 'clock spring' that carries all the signals from the wheel to the column.

This is probably the answer. Part runs about $220 if you do it yourself probably $800 with labor if the dealer does it

That's probably the case. I made the mistake of letting my daughter sit in the seat while I as working on the truck. I just heard from a buddy today about tying the wheel in one place. I've been pretty lucky in the past because I've greased the shafts 4 times between my last 3 trucks. I guess I lost on this one. Now I'll have to search to see how bad it is to change the 'clock spring'...
