the wires going to the low beam lights there is a yellow and orange, if you add a constant ground to the yellow you get all on high beam. my question is is there any possible damage from doing this. i haven't wired my turck like this yet, but i'm wondering if anyone out here has.

Yes, I did it over a year ago. No problem. The easiest way is to pull the pins and pull one of the headlight assemblies forward a couple of inches to gain access to the wires. Just tap into the yellow and ground it anywhere convenient. I think there was a thread about disassembling the UBEC to gain access to the yellow - way too much work.
On our '02s the headlight relay energizes the orange wire with +12V and the dimmer switch grounds either yellow or purple depending on whether lo or hi respectively is selected. Grounding the yellow causes the lo beam to remain on no matter what the position of the dimmer switch. (of course, lo still shuts off as normal with the headlight relay).
Due to wiring changes, this method does not work for '03s and later. They require diodes.
