: Dad says his V10 Durdge will smoke the Dmax?
Pro400exc 01-13-2005, 10:35 PM Hey Guys...
My dad has a 97 4x4 Durdge w/ the V10...he claims he will drag me all over the pavement in 4wheel drive..well seeing how i'm only 2wheel..maybe..but how about if he's not in 4wheel? I don't mean to sound dumb here..but i just want the ole man to shut up,lol
He also claims gas motors are better for tractor pullin type power..He says thats why the tractor pulls mostly run gas engines..because they use high rpm tq and thats whats needed for tractor pulls....I also doubt this..but please prove me wrong mr. know it alls, lol
Max Power 01-13-2005, 10:37 PM Race him. That should shut him up :D
GMC-2002-Dmax 01-13-2005, 10:41 PM You get that tranny done and you will beat more than a V10 Dodge for sure.......
T):h NY
aketay 01-13-2005, 10:42 PM Is his a dually? If not, then you both have 4wd. Throw some stable weight in the bed and run him.
Max Power 01-13-2005, 10:46 PM It's all about weight and traction. Very little do with power.
moss022 01-13-2005, 10:50 PM last time i checked, it took a very healthy, and i mean healthy gas motor to come to the same distance in a truck pull as my stock motor!!! as far as your dad saying that the gas motor is better for tractor pullin, as him when was the last time he has seen a gas motor in a semi or even a tractor that was built within the last 20 years?????????
nwpadmax 01-13-2005, 11:17 PM ..He says thats why the tractor pulls mostly run gas engines.. Has your dad actually been to a tractor pull in the last, uh, 20 years? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
moss022 01-13-2005, 11:26 PM ):h ):h
olskool53 01-13-2005, 11:35 PM Hook up! and drag his a** back to the dodge dealer, so they can replace his burned out tranny!
PS: If you still live at home scrap the hook up! and ask him what costs more his monthly payment for that junk or his monthly fuel bill!
partsguy662 01-13-2005, 11:38 PM Has your dad actually been to a tractor pull in the last, uh, 20 years? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif Unless your dad is running alcohol (in the truck, not in him) , I don't think you have much to worry about.. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif
Got Juice? 01-13-2005, 11:41 PM I had a dodge V-10

Aren't all dads like that? :)
Pro400exc 01-14-2005, 12:24 AM Oh..lol.....I guess all real dads are..my step dad is always willing to listen.....
tophog 01-14-2005, 01:05 AM Tell him to put a $20 or $50 spot, half-case, whatever on the table ...that usually takes the smile off my dad's face and he knows he better put up or shut up :)
Burnin Mad Max 01-14-2005, 04:01 AM I actually saw a similar (kinda-sorta) battle go down. One of the guys my brother worked with had bought a new F150 -:t and said he could outpull my brothers 2500HD Duramax.):h They chained em up hitch to hitch and both slammed the throttles. They actually just sat in place smokin' their tires for 20 seconds or so  until my brother hit the brakes. ):h The Ford kept spinnin' his tires. When that little 150 hit the brakes my brother laid into it an dragged his sorry ass 30 feet tires hoppin' and blistering on the Ford the whole way.:ro)
jon72 01-14-2005, 04:41 AM If you can find some soft verticle tread tires with stiff sidewalls(like a circle track racing tire maybe...)and some tire softner@or around 40psi youll pull him! Or do a wheelie tryin! p.s. You got to video tape this one.ha ha!
Goldsburg 01-14-2005, 09:04 AM He also claims gas motors are better for tractor pullin type power..He says thats why the tractor pulls mostly run gas engines..because they use high rpm tq and thats whats needed for tractor pulls....
Prostock (all diesel), Super Stock (diesel), Super Farm (all diesel), Pro Farm (all diesel), etc are all some of the most popular and exciting classes in pulling today! I not convinced that either if you have been to a tractor pull lately or you would have never let him get away with that one!
dmaxfan 01-14-2005, 09:32 AM The only tractors that I have seen in the pulls that weren't diesel were alcohol.
Pro400exc 01-14-2005, 10:40 AM Haha.....No I watch tractor pulls......But if i try to say something.. its "ohhhh no son..your wrong...blah blah blah"
Also...arn't the real deal bad ass tractor pull'ers use chopper engines?(no..not harley davidson, lol)
And thanks for the feedback guys..Ya'll are great...now just gotta find some slicks....
Pro400exc 01-14-2005, 10:42 AM Ohhh...BTW...when he says Gas engines..i belibe he is refering to the alchohol burners...
Crawler Hauler 01-14-2005, 11:05 AM You know what they say, ignorance is bliss. I've won so much money off of guys like your dad it's sick. ):h I guess all those V10 gassers I'm passing in the Colorado mountains pulling half the load I am are just "taking it easy on me". It's a conspiracy by all the gassers, soon their all just going to let us diesel guys have it with both barrels and show us how we've all been wrong for so long.

I was just fixing to post something very similar along those lines...
Bill Gisse 01-14-2005, 12:36 PM He's probaly right with 4 wheel drive against your two. As far as tractors go he should check the farms, almost all tractors sold today are diesel and super high torque.
I don't abuse my truck but I think with the smaller tires back on it and a few bags of sand, my Duramax/Allison would make the V10 work awful hard to best me. Acelleration up on the high end isn't to bad either. If he (your dad)shops around a little some guy out here with a Juice and some other stguff might take him on.Anyway, keep things on the good natured side, hard feelings and torn up trucks aren't worth proving your point. My grandson with his dodge diesel 4X4 is always trying to bait me into something. I'm 76 and to old to be learning any more lessons the hard way.
Jonathan G 01-14-2005, 03:48 PM ):h You should have your dad take his Dodge Slam to a pull sometime. See how
that gas drinker pulls Vs. a Duramax.
Scotty Seelen 01-14-2005, 04:39 PM You'll win on both counts.
dewhart 01-14-2005, 05:00 PM Sounds like the "Old Man" is runniing on alcohol.
iafisherman 01-14-2005, 10:36 PM I've had em both. A 96 Dodge V10 and a 02 dmax. I would put my money on the dmax. Especially with the predator. By the way my V10 scored #7 piston @ 23000 miles. New engine under warranty, but that was enough for me. I love my dmax.
