I have a 2001 duramax, 6speed zf, the clutch refuses to release, The pedal will travel about 7/8s of the way to the firewall. I have noticed that several have had trouble with the flywheel, what are the symptoms of flywheel failure,

I had a '95 with a hydraulic clutch that gave me lots of problems.
Is there enough fluid in it? Is the throw-out bearing making noise? Is it spongy? Stiff? Normal? Are the bolts tight on the slave cylinder? Any other symptoms or noise?

Clutch mas. cyl.
If youre under warranty, take it to the dealer. If not, I bet the part is under 200 bucks.

I have been able to rule out the master and slave cylinder, the slave cylinder has been replaced, as well as the master after I broke the back end off of it, the pedal gets firmer the farther it is pushed, until a point that it will not go any further even though it is not far enough to release it, I have now gotten the transmition pulled out and the pressure plate looks fine to me, but this is my first time to deal with this type of flywheel and am unsure of how it should work and appear, I am able to rotate the two halfs a slight amount against one another, is this how it should be.
This pickup is 100% stock, and honest truth it does not get worked hard.
do you know how to reset the pressure plate, if you have done any clutch repairs it will have to be reset contact me for information

Gord, I tried to email you direct, but was unable to.
I have never heard of having to reset a pressure plate.
This pickup was fine when I parked it in the shop on Sunday afternoon, the next Friday when I started to back it out the problem appeared.
