I used my shop vac while drilling and tapping. Be careful that you don't bottom out the tap then your hole wiil be too big.

do all your drilling slow with the engine running and you will be fine. same thing for tapping.

Does it make a difference which manifold ( drivers side or pass side ) you install a pyro?

With a high quality coblat drill bit, and some cutting oil on it, you don't need to worry about shavings, the bit will force them out, and they will stick to the bit..been there done that..:D I did the passenger side.

do the hoot method. WEAR SAFTEY GLASSES and a face shield. the chips come out at a hight rate of speed.

grease your drill bit and your tap while you drill it will hold the shavings and keep you safe.

When I tried that, the exhaust blew the grease all over the place, like I said, face shield:D
