: fuel nozzle upgrade?

I have a 2002 duramax diesel. I would like to know if anyone makes a replacement for the fuel inlet. Where I fill up the inlet forces me to hold the handle and constantly start over. I would like a bigger one to replace the stock one.
thanks

I thought the newer models ('05) come with a bigger filler neck. How much to upgrade using stock '05 parts? (and is it possible?).

Jeff,

I have the transfer flow filler neck kit also. Cost ~$130 shipped and took less than an hour to install. I still can't use the high volume pumps on wide open, but atleast I can use them when pulling the 5er.

I could fill my '05 with a fire hose! Nice!

back in October there was a discussion on this by Acehi wanting to do the same thing--cheaply. Big Dipper replys that the LLY fill tube works but he used the filler tube from a 4500 series, cost about $30(cheaper than the LLY fill tube, about $60 I think). The '01 & '02 have internal vent tubes I'm told and the 4500 and LLY are probably external I'm thinking, so some modification would be necessary. Someone else who knows for sure could chime in. Any way he said the 4500 part # is 15040338 and it will bolt right in. I have a 60 gal. in bed tank that I'm going to install when it warms up, so I'll be doing the same thing. I like the idea of the supertank but just don't want to go through all the work of installing it and the additional cost. Good luck on your project.

Didn't someone previously try to use the Transfer Flow fillneck with the Supertank replacement?

The Transferflow neck work on all LB7 trucks. I do not know if the LLY setup will work on our trucks or not. I have the Transferflow and I can fill at the truck pumps at full speeds. Toy man, check to make sure your vent hose is properly installed at the right angle and has no kinks in it.

I currently installed the Transfer Flow Fast-Fill Fillneck connected to an OEM 36 gallon tank, and having problems filling fuel with the larger truck stop diesel fill nozzle. I have adjusted the Teleflex vent hose twice now with no luck.

What position must the Teleflex vent hose be installed in order to fill up with larger fill nozzle with out having to hold the handle?

I think the transferflow fast fill kit was made Primarily so we could Use the big nozzle's at the truck stop's I don't think it was intended to be used at full speed at one of the truck nozzle's. Some of those nozzle's can put out some serious GPM like 60+.
I don't think the neck can handle that much no matter how it is designed.
I have the fast fill kit also and I can use the large nozzle's just not at full speed, only on the first click which is plenty fast enuf for me.

Redco97 the instruction's say to have the vent line at the 3 oclock position. The upper is not movable because of the screw's that hold the upper piece in place orient the vent line at 3 oclock and I put my lower vent hose at about the 2 oclock position and it works well at low speed. Just make sure there's no sag's in any of the vent hose or fill hose.

I have a short box and therefore a smaller tank. Diesel Dragon's instructions sound right. I remember that it was on the side and I took extra care to make sure the vent tube was not bent too tightly or kinked.

Joey83854,

The filler neck you got was for a LLY engine?

If it is I don't think it will work on 01 to 04.5 since the LB7's have the vent line internally with the fill tube. Sort of like a tube in a tube. The transfer flow set up gives you a new lower portion that goes into the tank with a new vent line that then turns into a external vent line by coming through the sidewall of the new lower portion, which then gets hooked to a new upper portion by a new external vent line that turns into a internal vent line again right at the top by the opening.
And I think that the LLY vents are coming right from the top of the tank to the new upper portion that you bought. But our tanks dont have a vent at the top of the tank and that's why the transfer flow is made the way it is.
So I don't know what you can do other than get the TF set up.
Maybe someone else has an idea for you.
