: Ryder Diesel Problem.....

Well, one of my drivers screwed up yesterday. I manage a delivery company and during our busiest times, we rent Ryder trucks to get things done. All of our own trucks are gasoline, but the truck we rented was diesel.

The truck had about 1/2 tank of fuel and driver was going to top it off. The Censored put 1/2 tank of gasoline! After driving it for a while, he said it lost power and started smoking badly. This is when he called me and told me of his mistake.

Ryder had it towed to their mechanic. I haven't heard from them yet, but I'm assuming that stupidity isn't covered by the insurance we took out.

Anybody want to venture a guess as to how much this may cost???

What does gasoline in a diesel engine actually do??

BTW, the driver now has a couple of weeks off -- we're so damn busy I can't afford to fire him!!!!

Hopefully they will just drain the tank, flush the lines and replace the filters. Hopefully a couple hours labours is all that is involved.

Max -- I hope you're right. It just sucks -- even with that "best case scenerio", I'd imagine we're still looking at $500 or more.

Accidents happen, stupidity pisses me off.....

Thanks for the response! :ro)
