I am selling my gasser and getting a diesel. Likely a 6.5 because they are inexpensive to purchase and maintain (it seems). I havent driven one yet, but was curious about what my accelleration would be like, i know it wont compare to my gasser. Im just looking for a reference point to the feel. ive seen people say thigns from 7.8 to 16.2.
so whats your estimate for a 3/4 or 1-ton 6.5 bone stock? thanks guys.

Your 6.0l is a great engine for a corvette, what stupid idea GM had putting it in a work truck that require's torque I just can't figure. Guess that's why Toyota is selling more vehicles than GM.
I wouldn't say the 6.5 is a cheap engine to maintain compared to your 6.0l but it will get 30% better fuel economy unloaded and 70 to 100% when working hard. My loaded with full size camper 6.5 makes 2 mpg better than my brother's empty 02 6.0l.
My brother's 6.0l is a beatiful truck to drive and has great 0 to 60 times, I would guess 8 seconds. My truck stock 14 to 15 seconds 0 to 60, as it is now approx 12 to 13 seconds. That is with 3.43 gears.

Well...now I feel kindof stupid...I hope I'm not wrong, BUT:
A little while ago I did a 0-60 (mph) test in my truck...came out between 9.5 and 10 seconds. Based on previous replies that seems pretty quick.
So now I guess the question is: Should I get a new stopwatch and new timing buddy? I guess I'll have to do it again...:) Be back later with results.
For the record, I'm not some punk kid that likes to brag about his truck. My truck has enough HP to get up and moving, but I don't know if I would call it "fast"... This was just a result of a previous test.
Maybe I'll take a video of it if I can, then I'll be able to get a definate time...
EDIT: I re-read the thread, and realized we were talking about basically stock engines...sorry!
I'll leave this in there to mention what slight modifications you can make to get faster 0-60 times
