Since the wonderful world of OBD-II has clipped the wings of our paperclip world, it just doesn't seem fun anymore piddling around as a cheap shade tree mechanic. Without a trip to the local parts store to buy parts you don't need to justify the guy to come out and read codes on the computer. Anywho, whilest in this practice of buying, for once a needed part and getting my codes read, I saw on the counter a new toy. This little stinker plugs into the computer and records everthing about your car. There are two verisions of this one does 75 hours and the other is I think 130 hours. The first is about 100 USD. Comes with cabling, software, etc. Tells you codes, speeds, idle times, everything to rat out your teenager who says that they obey the speed limit and doesn't.
Just thought that I'd mention it for fun.

I wonder what my kids would think of me after I pulled this one on them?

I saw a $70 autoxray that read and cleared codes on the 6.5L OBDII, no frills but it gets the SES light out, and tells you the DTC.

Anyone in Canada seen the Davis CarChipE/X unit in an auto parts store or anywhere else? Where and what store.

Thx
