Alright im buying an 06 duramax, and plan on running predator 85 hp tune.
i dont want to throw a lot of money into the truck, because i never hang on to it for a long time, maybe a year, tops.
anyways, if i cut out the muffler and replace it with a pipe will it lower the egt's a lot? and \ or make it smoke more?
what if i also take out the cat? would it be too annoying of a sound on the highway?

Yes, replacing the muffler and cat will definately drop EGTs. Some find the straight pipe sound annoying, others love it. Its all a matter of opinion really.

what if i leave the muffler, or leave just the cat?
will it still help? maybe be less annoying?

The cat removal should make the biggest difference when it comes to reducing EGTs. You will definitely smoke more without the cat.

Not very loud, but does have a nice throaty rumble in the higher RPM. Deffinatly has much more turbo whistle and jet/hairdryer sound at lower RPM. I love the straight pipe:D

what about with a predator tuner on 85 hp. do you still get the turbo noise at low rpms?
