: Never again will I !!!!!!!
john@dps 01-13-2005, 02:03 AM Hi everyone, I wanted to start a "Never again will I do this,Censored thread". So maybe some other members will never make the same mistakes that we have. Don't limit yourself to just the engine and tranny I want to read all our do's and dont's. After all, I dont like making any mistake will my truck. Mine tend to be very costly. I will start it off. Repeat after me "Never again will I use an electronic boost controller to control the waste gate" If you do, you will be without a truck for about a week.
John
Got Juice? 01-13-2005, 02:34 AM Never Again Shall Juicegrips(TM) be used in creating more boost.
Never Again Will I Blow up a Turbo (yeah, Riiiiiight i know)
Never Again Will I do Donuts and Break a G-80
Diesel Power 01-13-2005, 02:47 AM i broke my G80 doing donuts a while back. only took a couple... then it was locked solid like a detroit after that!
akdiesel 01-13-2005, 02:55 AM I am hoping to never again buy another truck. This should be my last truck I get.
GTA23109a 01-13-2005, 03:51 AM Never again will I tow with a gas truck (if I can avoid it ;) )
Never again will I let my buddy use a pair of perfectly good snips to cut ground and power wires at the same time. (still keep the burned up ones in the toolbox just for story-telling though)
dmax4u2nv 01-13-2005, 04:17 AM what are juicegrips
Mackin 01-13-2005, 05:27 AM what are juicegrips
Vice-grips. Seems Juice had a problem pinching off the wastegate bleed off on the turbo.End result, broken turbo.
It was a problem there for awhile. :D
Me no regrets.
If you don't break something then you don't learn. :D
But at work I was fixing a LP Clark Tow Motor. Was starting hard no balls,I knew what the problem was, adjustment timing.
Well they make the distributer out off Aluminum head is cast, you know the problem already.Just a tap off a soft face mallet, alright a good smack.Long story short,I busted the top right off.
So there I stood looking at a shaft 3/8 in diameter and the base FLUSH with the block.
I jerry rigged vice grips and a strap and hooked up a puller, alright a 5 ton bridge crane, you caught me,and it would bounce the Forklift off the ground and NOT BUDGE!
I had to drill all the way around that Mo- Censored until I could remove piece by piece by piece.
Hours I tell you hours. Lesson learned use Bigger hammer next time I spent to much time trying to loosen it. :D
Runs good converted that Continental flat head 4 to Electronic ignition! :p
Dmax Tim 01-13-2005, 06:19 AM I took dad's old wood splitter w/ 10hp wisconsin (mag ignition) and since can't get it running decided to convert over to run on SSL.
Hooked up air line to inlet on contol valve to blow all the old oil out of cylinder, so the SSL doesn't get contaminated.
Tank had plenty of room for the extra oil but w/ the air/foam it errupted like old faithful.
By the time I got the air off I had a couple of quarts of oil on the 15' ceiling and gallons on the floor
This happened last nite, I just threw out a couple of bags of oil dry and turned out the lites, the Censored is waiting for me when I get home Censored
Lesson learned, oil and air mix but not as good as beer and CO2 ):h
Mackin 01-13-2005, 06:45 AM That's hilarious ):h
ChevyHDGert 01-13-2005, 09:14 AM Never again will I buy an extended cab. Crew cabs from here on out.
never again will I hook to a sled with out lowering the t-bars and tie rod sleeves
ratlover 01-13-2005, 10:07 AM Along with the dougnuts are bad......"I will never do dougnuts with 1k of pavers behind the rear wheels" I didnt break anything but OMG did it nuke the tires in a hurry.
"No matter how cold it is and how confident I am that I know that the sound is just a simple non damaging exhaust leak I WILL INVESTIGAT IMEDIATLY and not wait "just a week" untill I can get it into my dads heated shop"
"I will not try to work on projects and spend time with the GF, I will tell the Censored to get the Censored outa the shop so she stops distracting me" I would then only have to deal with a pissed of Censored for a few days instead of have to look at something thats an 1/8" off for the life of my truck.
"I will measure once and cut twice and if its still too short I will cut it again" ):h
"I will not get all drunked up and tell myself she may be a lil heavy but........
"I will never pay a good deal of money for a truck when I really want something else" I took a hell of a bath trading my gasser in on the truck I wanted for a couple of years. A black 2500HD D/A:cool:
partsguy662 01-13-2005, 10:25 AM "I will not believe my friends when they tell me that the standing water in that field is only about 3" deep and ground is hard underneath." Censored Nothing like a truck buried up to the doors in mud with a trailer hooked up out in the middle of nowhere."I will not check the timing of one of my old John Deere tractors while leaning up against the flywheel and turning the flywheel slowly, watching for the spark plug (which is laying on the frame) to spark..." Even though wico magnetos are relatively low voltage, apparently I am an excellent ground..
Sollly 01-13-2005, 10:46 AM I will never again forget to put the door down on my shell before backing out of the garage and hearing it explode into a million Censored pieces. Ya right.
Duramax Dually 01-13-2005, 10:48 AM Never again will I buy a snow blower, The quad with the plow I just bought did the work in 45 minutes where as the snow blower took hours, if not days....The perk is you get to sit and have fun, rather than stand and freeze):h
ratlover 01-13-2005, 11:24 AM go from an atv with a blade to a 2500HD with a 9.5 fisher EZ V:ro)
My dad stuck me running a side walk crew a few years ago since he was hurting for deecent shovlers, I bought my own blade so I didnt have to freeze my nutz and I didnt have to beg and plead to run a plow route.
Duramax Dually 01-13-2005, 01:25 PM Ratlover,
Oh I would love one, even considered one. But I just need to clear tight paths around the house and about 100 ft of driveway so I would not need a "Real" plow. Besides, just having the quad through this recent torrential snow here in California, I had my neighbors pleading with me to clean their walkways and small sections of driveways since their weeny little snow throwers could not keep up or do the job. One guy just spent about $2800 on a new Honda Track deal and asked me to clean the snow out in front of his house. he spent hours just cleaning a 26" wide path from the house to the garage.. I could only imagine how many "Friends" I would have gained with a "Real" plow.....):h Trying to avoid becoming the neighborhood plow man...If ya know what I mean....;)
And honestly...when done it is fun to dork around on the quad. I take daughter and go Snow mound jumping and spin wicked donuts without blowing out the G 80 rear......:ro)
sbarshie 01-13-2005, 01:45 PM Never again: will I buy a Dodge
$1,500 extended warrenty paid $14,000 in repairs.
Year one 45 days in the shop:eek:

skoryaro2 01-13-2005, 02:12 PM Never again will I let a 6 mos. old German Sheppard puppy stay loose in the garage to chew everything in sight because I was too cheap to spend the $40 on a cage (which I bought anyways immediately after "the incident" )!
Damage Report:
1) Drivers rear corner of the plastic bumper of a Grand-Am chewed off (basebal size chunck).
2) Both license plate lights on the rear bumper of my (new at the time) truck chewed up.
3) Two 1'X1' holes clawed throught the drywall of the garage wall.
4) Countless shoes destroyed.
5) A roll of papertowel chewed up beyound recognition.

aketay 01-13-2005, 02:59 PM Never again will I let my Dad borrow my vehicles, he treats them the same way I did his when I was 16. I watched my bike go haulin' a$$ down the road using the rev limiter as a clutchless shift point. He ran my truck to redline in 3 gear and said it was slow not thinking to put the selector in "D" for 4th & 5th gear whilst towing the tractor. Old school didn't want to ruin my tranny thinking you shouldn't tow in overdrive.
aketay 01-13-2005, 03:09 PM 2nd, I will never forget to put the tailgate down after parking the GN...

Never again will I buy another screw driver 'cause "I can't find one". ...
I think that I've discovered your problem. You never have any screwdrivers becasue you have a drawer full of pry bars!!!
I think that they should shoot the sum-beetch that designed slotted screws (well never mind, he's dead already). I refuse to put anything together that has slotted screws. If it's worth owning, it's at least worth phillips screws...
