I recently found out that there is a major issue with my rear end. I haven't had it professionally looked at yet, but was curious if I have to replace it, could I get a "new" rear end off of a 1 ton and bolt it onto my 3/4? The only reason for this is that I am towing upwards of 18,600 lbs and it might serve a better purpose. Is this necessary? There is a clunk that comes out of the rear end, and when you shake the bed, you can feel it within the pumpkin and the axle as well... bearing?? seal?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fill in your signature (year, model, modifications, where your at, etc.) On my '00 and up, the 2500's and 3500's appear to be the same rear axle.

Just to clarify, the 3500 SRW axle is the same as the 2500 HD axle. The 3500 DRW axle is several inches longer flange to flange than either of the SRW axles.

The 3500 DRW axle doesn't have necked down tubes I don't think. I'll have to compare my 2. Other that the tubes and being app 4"-6" wider they are the same axle.
