Hey guys looking to get some big sound out of this big truck the stock horn sucks!

I have been looking on JCwhitney.com they have about 16 sets but will these work off the stock wiring or does this all have to be upgraded???

Let me know what you did and how it worked not trying to blow out windows but big sound would be good/fun!!!:D

There is all kinds of threads on here about train horns if you do a search. If you have the OEM air compressor and reservoir on your truck for the air seat it shouldn't be difficult to add horns. In my opinion air horns are considerably better than electrics, but without a compressor and tank you will need to add those. I found a set of blems on Siege Engineering's website that were less than $150, but still had to add the air system.

like dirt dog said, there is a huge thread in electronics about this.

I had a set that looked just like that on my '79 Volvo 264GL. They were plenty loud. As for the stock wiring, it is sufficient, BUT I recommend adding a selector switch to allow the use of either horn. The stock horn is turned on by relay and the power circuit will handle it.

Actually, if you read the reviews on the pic page, someone said the stock wiring wasn't heavy enough, but I disagree. Read the other reviews, and they all agree with me on Plenty Loud.

Siege Air Horns are very good value. I have a set hooked up to the suspension system on my truck. Super Mega loud. Sounds like a train going by. Hooked up to a big red button on my dash. Its the DONT PUSH ME button heheh.

If nothing else and you want to be on the safe side, just use the stock wiring to run a Bosch relay that triggers the horn air switch. A relay wouldn't place anymore load on the stock system than the electric horn would.

The previous owner of my truck installed two air horns.
I have a overhead pull horn "normal semi horn" nice and loud. I believe this is perfectly legal.

I also have a 1960 Freight train Horn. This is mounted behind the diff between the air bags. This is mostly out of sight.
Very very loud, I think it is 160db. I suspect this is not legal by any means.

I have only used it twice on the road when some one cuts me off with my trailer. Very effective.
