I'm looking at a GMC HD but just can't get past the mushy brake pedal. To me if feels like the pedal is "dangling" and doesn't do anything for the first inch or two you move the pedal. If feels like it just pushes air before it builds pressure.

I've driven at least 6 different trucks now and they're all the same.

Is there a way to adjust this?

Does anyone else notice this or feel the same way!

TIA

That's GM's trademark brakes. I actually prefer it to others but maybe thats because I have only owned GM's.

My 92 had very good brakes, 98 had a very soft pedal, but my 04.5 DA will put me through the windshield if I stand on them. I think mine work great.

My pedal goes down about 1/3 of the travel. Will definitely stop the truck. The 96 yukon I used to own had a real soft pedal, went over half way and was always soft. Truck stopped but, not a comfortable pedal or ABS feel.

Comparing my brakes to my buddies truck, 2004 z71 half ton chevy, and other older 2500hd's that I test drove, my brakes are much less mushy. I think they improved the braking system for the '05's

I've driven a couple '05's and they felt the same.

I think the brakes stop the truck just fine, it's just that the pedal feel is very numb.

Maybe I'll drive another '05 and see.

I just went from a 03 LB7 2500HD to a new 05 LLY 3500, and the brakes on the 03 were much firmer. I'm hoping it is just a fluid change and bleed.
