On the hard plastic intake clamped to the turbo on the LLY there are 2 holes one for the sound deadening 6.6 cover and one for what appears to be a vent cumming from both valve covers. This has dirtied the intake and turbo. My question is, is this an emishions thing, and can I just vent the line without a problem

Thanks

Aron

You are correct this is the Crank case vent which will deposit oil in the intercooler. I know I've read on here about oil deposits in the intercooler and plumbing to being acceptable. The LB7 engine Fed emissions vents to the atmosphere but 07 emissions will require diesels to recycle these vapors. Some engine builders are routing them into the intake and others are routing it into the exhaust post turbo.

Thank you for the answer i think i will plumb it to the bottom of the engin and cap off the intake. i dont want all that crap inside my motorhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v236/Aron420/DSC00012.jpg

Mine dumps below the tranny to help stop the rust. No codes thrown ( finally found something GM didn't plan for). I hope I haven't offended any greenies but I have seen intercoolers nearly useless from oil scum coating the inside. Dropped the hose at the start of winter (quite a bit of scum out of this fairly new engine, should get better) but, will need to filter it by summer. I have to laugh when I see what the engineers come up with, my 2001 Dodge had the crank vent routed to a bottle on the front gear cover. You can imagine the mess after the small bottle was full and the fan coated the engine in rust proofing. thanx geo.

Another thing waiting to plug the intake up.. Great. Better go have a look at mine. Geo-Venting towards the ground do you get anything on the trans or farther back on the truck?

Actually stopped short of the tranny. It dumps onto the front diffy and leaves a little stain there that I can't see without hurting my back or when I'm greasing or oiling. thanx geo. P.S. it's not that much oily stuff, less of a mess than getting your fuel filter changed at the dealer.
